Dan is old fashioned. Member 27, 2028 posts SQ 240, BP 170, DL 255665.0 kgs @ 102kgs UnEq | My missus can do this, it's her party trick. Actually that depends on how late in the night it is, she has a different party trick for later on

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22081 posts | I've done it a few times, but not with any style/elegance! I can also bend a 6" nail in half.

I personally prefer the stiffest possible. Member 158, 3110 posts SQ 170, BP 107.5, DL 222.5500.0 kgs @ 67.4kgs UnEq | its technique, its not a strength thing

Pinch gripping helps a lot mate, especially thin pinches, like the width of a coin, with string attached to weight. I used to start off with 1/3 of a pack as a warmup. You have to get the hands warm, left hand underneath, right on top and twist away from the body. It can be brutal on the fingers( bleeding at first), but once you get the tear, its on. Squeeze the pack as hard as you can before the twist, add more and more cards as you progress. Some packs are a little easier than others, the new plastic one's are a c**t. I said i could do it, and no one believed me, i let the price get bigger and bigger then did it for 100 quid in a room full of disbelievers, once i got the tear i reset and got it in under a minute perfectly in half, a lot LOT harder than a phone book as seen above. Card tearing is a pure hand strength feat, Technique is secondary. Nails were the same, i bent 8 one after the other for money (6" nails) If you're gonna do it then do it for some Queen's heads. That's what makes it worthwhile

Member 1109, 84 posts | Post Edited: 17.02.2010 @ 20:24 PM by Boar This is me tearing an argos catalogue (similar thickness but a bit more slippery).Pinch grip training does help a lot, but its all really in the spine snap. Once that goes its game over.

Member 1026, 38 posts | Phone book tears are easy once you got the technique, be it vertical or across the binding. Card tears however, are quite a challenge - I've done it once though
