Saturday Bench

I planned to train Friday, but I spent the day slumped in the chair and just couldn't get up for it. So I waited

Bar for 10 x 3 sets
40 for 6
50 for 5
60 for 4
70 for 3
80 for 2
90 for 1
100 for 1
110 for 1
120 for 1

Face Pulls 25 for 10 x 5 sets
Finish

That's what I wanted! Failed it last time at lockout. Today it flew up. Last three sessions clearly worked. 120 is my best for about a year (I did 135 February 2025 and then backed off to rest an injury, and I haven't been back there since.) There was probably more there, but one recent pb per session is enough. let's not be greedy.

As I stopped after the 120 (that was the plan), I hope to do a volume pyramid tomorrow.

Happy! Not where I want to be, but not quite so far away now. Happy

Monday Bench

Hoped to do this session yesterday, but it didn't happen

Bar for 10 x 3 sets
40 for 6
50 for 4
60 for 2
75 for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Finish

Hard work. Cruised up to 10, but really had to work on the down sets. My heaviest ever pyramid was with 80, so getting there.

Hoping to hit 100 x 6 on Wednesday, then off to Inverness on Thursday for a wee operation. Should be back on the bench next Monday.

I've entered the Scottish Bench on 23rd May.

Wednesday Bench

Only half a session. My blood sugar was down to 3.4 when I got up, and I slumped and then slept until the afternoon. Dragged myself to the garage a bit after 4, knowing I had to get the dogs to kennels by 5.30 and that a full session just wasn't doable. But something is better than nothing, they say...

60 for 4
70 for 3
80 for 2
90 for 1
100 for 1
100 for 5
Finish

At least I know 5 is still there feeling rough. The target was 6, but that just wasn't happening. Today, even light weights felt heavy.

Off to hospital in Inverness on the early plane tomorrow, hope to be back training on Monday.

Not fully recovered from the operation yet, so no targets in mind. Just get something done. Do a few singles, forget reps, not got the energy for that yet.

Delighted that 120 was still there. Glad I managed to do something.

Thursday Bench

I lay awake most of the night mulling stuff over, and then crashed out all morning as a result. I was ready to train at 4, until a mini crisis erupted (now sorted) and it was eventually 5.15 when I made it to the garage. Decided to test myself on the thick red band.

Bar for 10 x 2 sets
Thick red band on (adds 25 to 20 at lockout)
Bar for 10 x 2 sets
40 for 6
50 for 4
60 for 2
70 for 1
80 for 1
90 for 1 (easy, so...)
100 for 1
Finish.

Previous recent best was 95, so a 5 kilo improvement is quite something. I thought it might be there since I was doing 120, but there was onloy one way to find out. Delighted, but ran out of time and energy, so stopped with the intention of doing a volume pyramid tomorrow or Saturday.
