Was measuring myself for a new shirt, and there's only a 2 inch difference between my straight arm measurement and my flexed arm measurement. Gotta do something lol!

Related, I thought I was a 46 chest. Turns out I'm a 48.5 relaxed and 50 expanded. Nearly big!

Bench at mine with Tom.

Bands arrived yesterday. It will be good to train with bands again, not used them this year, different bands from before so everything's a pb!

Bar for 20
60 for 8 x 2 sets
80 for 5
100 for 3
120 for 2 (felt heavy, s**t...)
140 for 1 (felt easy, phew...).

To 5.25 inch board

160 for 1
170 for 1
182.5 for 1 (just, 183 would have been too much, one of the boards fell onto my face, but managed to lock it out after a huge fight. 400 lbs raw baby!!!)

With red band (medium of three)

60 for 5
80 for 3
100 for 2
120 for 1
140 for 1
150 - abject fail.

Nice to train with bands again. Tried shirted technique with the 150, forgetting I needed raw strength to get it moving. Doh!

My pb with one purple was 145 iirc, and the red is very similar to the purple, so not bad for a year off and after a raw 400 to boards. Happy with today, Tom got another commands pb and matched me on bands - but his fail was better than mine. Speed tomorrow, shirt and big blue band Wednesday... Happy

Speed Bench, flying solo at my place

Everything plus one small blue band

Bar for 20
60 for 8
80 for 5
100 for 3 x 10 sets.

I'd forgotten how much more effective speed work is with a light band. It's here to stay. Really good session, all done in under half an hour. Happy

Deadlifts - supposedly!

Finish!

My back felt really rough after playing golf yesterday, so I decided to walk away and live to fight another day. Instead, I went in to the sports centre in the afternoon and did my first cardio session in about two years (for cardio read cross trainer, it's all I can do with my leg). On which note, today is the 31st anniversary of me smashing my leg up. Seems like five years ago, where does the time go?

Golf is good. Just not the day before deadlifts. For me, anyway Happy

Bench at mine with Tom. Not the session I'd planned for today, but probably all the better for that.

Bar for 20
60 for 8
80 for 5
100 for 3
120 for 2

One thick blue band on

60 for 3
100 for 3
110 for 1
120 for 1
130 for 1
135 for 1 (that's my absolute limit for today)

Two thick blue bands on

60 for 1
80 for 1
90 - fail.

Tom pissed all over me with 2 bands.

We were trying to work out what the blue band adds at the top. It differs with arm length of course, but I reckon for me it's a minimum of 45 kilos, could be 50 but if I say 45 I won't be cheating myself. That's based on a 135 plus a band equalling 180, which is pretty much what I lock out raw off boards. Plus, if my two band pb is 85 (I had a bit more left in me when I did 80) that's a 50 kilo difference between my one band pb and my two band pb. Allow a bit for fatigue and that's 45.

Anyway, a good session, variety is the spice of life, speed work tomorrow, and I'll get in the new shirt Saturday if it arrives in time. Considering I felt rough before I trained today, pleased with what I did.

Hows the Handicap coming on Martin

a few solid session there. i have decided to take you up on you challenege and i'll try and to get up to around 200 - 215 comp bench. which comp would be best?

The leg's still a b**ch Wink.

Is that a raw or equipped number you have in mind? Not sure if there are any more Scottish comps this year. I'll find out for you and get back to you.

that would be my raw number. and i'll need to work untill the end of the year on the pauses and into next.

not ready for squats or deadlift yet but no biggie there

Reluctant to suggest 'remotely' but imo you can't really go wrong with a Rage X. Having said that, I'm awaiting delivery of a Super Katana...
