Haha, I did it up to 12 before the never ending cold hit, but decided to reset to 10 to start back. it was fine up to 10, but the down sets were tough and long rests were the order of the day.

Eleven next time, but that may be a while as I'm down your way from midweek for a week. Shoulders need the rest!

Tuesday Bench

Last one before a week's holiday, the plan was up to 155 in a shirt, but after a stressful evening, a night of broken sleep, and a busy morning, the plan was shelved. Just a gentle one before I head off.

Bar for 10 x 3 sets

60 for 5
70 for 4
80 for 3
90 for 2
100 for 1
110 for 1
120 for 1
110 for 3
100 for 5
90 for 4 (should have been 8)

The last set told me I was wise to steer clear of the shirt today. Completely ran out of steam, on top of everything else I hadn't eaten enough. I won't train again until a week Friday. Looking forward to the rest.

First one back after a wee break to visit family in Cheshire. Creaky...

Finish

The plan was to do a half pyramid - go up to 11 and stop, then do a full pyramid next volume session, but 10 was all I had, so 10 was all I did. We ran out of time as well. 120 nowhere near my limit btw, just the top warm up with a creaky 'good' shoulder.

Shirt session on Tuesday, then I decide whether to do the Scottish Bench or not. Too long (and expensive) a trip just to under perform.

Only plus is the 120 was easy. I've been like a zombie for weeks. Training's going backwards, and I have no energy to walk the dogs or risk a few holes of golf, even housework is a struggle. I'm blaming it on my blood pressure medication, so am taking a break from it for the rest of the week. If things improve, I can approach the doctor with some certainty that the medication is the cause. As things stand, I can't justify doing the Scottish Bench in early June, but let's see what the next ferw days bring...

Friday Bench - Red Band, adds about 30

Much better than Tuesday, off meds, but blood pressure rising!! Need a good chat with the GP next week. Still in two minds about being in good enough shape to go to the Scottish Bench. A 110 might have convinced me, but it buried me! BUT I haven't done band work for three months, so why should I expect to be at my best? Anyway...

Difficult6 decisions were taken today.

Left shoulder hurt throughout, three different slight strains in the left arm, no real prospect of tackling 150 in a shirt without risking turning a niggle into a serious injury, so I'm pulling out of the Scottish Bench in three weeks time.

There is good news. Crazily, the right shoulder than has bothered me since 2014 is now pain free. So get the left side rested and rehabbed, and I go into M4 in a very good place. Probably that's it competition-wise for me as an M3, next year I become the youngster again!

Friday Bench

The first of a number of light sessions as I attempt to nurse my injuries back to full health while maintaining mobility and strength. The unlikely plan is to just do what my training partner does.

65 for 2
70 for 1

82.5 for 1
50 for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Made the lighter weight interesting by doing each set on one breath.

Then, for the first time in ages, Facepulls. Only 20 for 10 x 5 sets, but it's a start. I think neglecting the rear delts and back has caused the left shoulder issue. That changed today. Also nice to have the energy after bench to do some assistance. I didn't realise how much the medication was holding me back. So some positives.

Tuesday Bench

David wanted to do a thick red band session, so as last Friday I let him lead and just matched what he did all the way through.

Band on (adds 25 to 30)
Bar for 6

50 for 2

60 for 1
65 for 1
67.5 for 1
55 for 4
50 for 6
45 for 10

David got a 5 kilo red band pb. Obviously the weight was relatively light for me, but still felt that I'd worked, but no pain in the shoulder, so all well.

Facepulls
20 for 10 x 5 sets

I also tried side lateral raises with 4 kg kettle bells, but it hurt my left shoulder, so we'll leave them for the time being

The slight strains in the left arm have all but gone, so hopefully I can start hitting curls again quite soon. There's something quite relaxing and unpressurised training light, wehich is good because that's what I'll be doing for the next few weeks. Happy

Finish. Good to have enough energy to do some assistance work after bench. Yes, it's very light, but it's maintaining mobility and minimising strength loss while the shoulder recovers.

Ended the session early, partner had a back attack of OCD and became uncoachable. I thought ending the session early might have a positive long term effect.

Yes, it's quite challenging. When certain names are mentioned he has to recite a list of other names, as an example. I'm all good, apart from the wee niggles that I'm managing. Happy
