The drowsiness continues. Catch up. On Monday I tried a bench pyramid with 60. I got up to 60 x 7 and the need for sleep hit me. Five minutes later I was asleep in the chair. Tuesday, I had eye injections and spent the rest of the day and most of Wednesday recovering. Hopefully that's the last, it's pretty unpleasant, although the nurse practitioner that does it is brilliant.

Planned to train at 1.00 today before the sleepiness hit, but I ended up asleep on the chair again and it was gone 4 whebn I was in any condition to train.

The plan was 80x4 and 70x5, but when the sleep bug hit I managed to get a 5 with 80 before I crashed out.

Pretty desperate stuff, just need to do what I can when I can. I have a phone appointment with the renal consulatant next Wednesday, hopefully they can change my medication and get me back on an even keel. Of course there is always the option of just coming off it, but then I risk 200+ blood pressure again, with all that entails. Just got to keep plugging away, I guess...

Nice going Martin. On tough days you do what you can, and it still ain't at all bad. In fact it's pretty damp good!

I've has another enforced break of nearly three weeks. I went down with food poisoning two weeks ago on Friday and haven't trained since. Felt very weak, no appetite. It sort of cleared up last Friday, but I had appointments Monday and Tuesday so today was the first day back. Still weak and drowsy, the plan today was just a few singles, get back to lifting something, anything. Hoped 100 was still there.

A relief 100 was still there, gives me something to build from. Still sleepy, fell asleep within ten minutes of stopping, need to get this sorted.

For the first time in ages, something resembling a proper workout, if you ignore the baby weights. I didn't fall asleep before or after the workout, and it wasn't cut short by extreme fatigue. Has a corner been turned? Long way to go. Watch this space.

Tuesday Bench

Woke up Saturday with what felt like a badly strained right elbow. Couldn't straighten the arm, couldn't fully bend it. Thankfully much better today. Definitely not a DOMS thing or an overwork issue. Still a bit sore when benching.

Thought I'd try a pyramid, see what my fitness was like.

Saturday Bench

I was supposed to train yesterday, but the dentist and the music session done for me, so today it is. Saturday is normally a down day, and my body was simply not in training mode, so I mentally bribed myself by planning just a few singles. I have to train again Monday, as Tuesday is eye injection day, so nothing I won't recover from in time.

Not sure I'll bother doing the British in 2026. I hade plans of 140 at 70, but I'm so far away from that it gets more unlikely by the day. The two championships are at the end of January and mid February, so I've got the rest of this calendar year to hit respectable numbers again. Not going all that way to lift 100 kilos...

Trained a day early. As per my previous post, I have eye injections tomorrow morning, which leaves me good for nothing for the remainder of the day, and probably Wednesday too.

The good points - wasn't fatigued, did something resembling a proper workout, the decline seems to have been arrested.

The bad points - still stuck around 100, which is totally pissing me off, right arm painfull throughout.

I had expected to see improvement after the last few weeks, but no! But maybe the prospect of a few more 'proper' sessions will turn things around?

Thursday Bench

Just about recovered from Tuesday's injections, also training today because I have an AGM tomorrow afternoon. Had the sheep shearer around, so I trained around that - I was catching the sheep, he was shearing them.

No more energy, no more time.

Best session for a while. Today's 105 was easier than Monday's 100. Plus 4 with 90 and 6 with 80 my best for quite some time. A long, long way to go, but finally, a smidgeon of improvement. Probably too little, too late for the British, but who knows...
