It was brutal mate. Just talking to my training partner and we're both dreading the 12 set in three sessions' time. The 11 set is 21 reps more than the 10, the 12 set is 23 reps more than the 11. Every down set was tough today. Maybe there's a little bit of insanity involved...? Grin

Trained tired, busy morning, napped very shortly after I finished, so all things considered 105 was a good performance, as were the down sets. Between tiredness, lashing rain and gale force winds it was tough today, but got a session in. Missed sessions are the road to weakness...

You're not wrong, that's why I just went through the motions and didn't chase pbs today. And off down to sunny Cheshire next week, all being well. Happy Enforced rest. Happy

Probably not Andy, spending a few days with family I've not seen in over a year, and Friday will be going to a family funeral in Northampton, so I'd probably get lynched if didn't spend all the time I could with them. But never say never...

PS - what is a light bench session? Grin

Saturday Bench

Been feeling lousy since I trained on Tuesday, best described as like sleeping sickness, spent three days slumped in my chair, started to shake it off Friday evening. So just a little something to keep ticking over. Decided on a black band session as my normal training partner isn't strong enough for it yet, so rarely used. Adds maybe 55 to 60 at lockout.

50 for 3

90 - fail - couldn't quite lock it out
Finish

Arms really feeling it, energy all gone, glad I was able to do something, no down sets today.

Tuesday Bench

No upcoming goals, far too soon to start prepping for June, so the next few sessions are all about keeping everything ticking over and maintaining as much strength as possible. Plus the June competition will be done equipped. But to today...

I contemplated a 75 for 12, but when the time came I called time on the session. All the real work done, and I had spent the morning in hospital, so enough is enough. I'm effectively 5 kg down on everything, which I suppose is not a bad place to be at this juncture. I may or may not be away on Friday, it all depends on whether I get my car back tomorrow. Happy with today's effort.

I think I'm consigned to loose shirts now mate. I don't think I could press the weight I would need to have on the bar to get a touch in a tight shirt. But who knows what a training bloc might bring? Happy

Saturday Bench

Couldn't train yesterday, had an important meeting in the afternoon, so a day late. Woke up late, feeling lousy, if my training partner hadn't come I'd have probably given it a miss. But he did, and I didn't.

Decided on a thin red band day, adds about 15. We were scheduled to do a pyramid to 12, but I definitely wasn't up for that, plus it takes forever.

Band on throughout

60 for 4
70 for 3
80 for 2
90 for 1

110 for 1
115 for 1
100 for 3

By the end, very glad I trained. 115 only 5 below my pb, and there was a smidge more there. Happy to keep within 5 of my pb in this phase of training. But, it means I have to pyramid next time...

For completeness, I haven't managed to train this week. Came down with a nasty cold/cough Sunday into Monday that really knocked the stuffing out of me. I harboured hopes of training today, but not up to it. Tuesday it is then, all being well. In the grand scheme of things, maybe a week off is a blessing in disguise. Heavy disguise...

Didn't train last week, feeling lousy. Still weak and tired, but I'd promised my training partner a session so decided to have a run through the gears to see how much strength I still had.

Thought I would struggle with 120, amazed 130 was there, no oomph for down sets, but hey ho, happy with that. Feeling rough and only 5 Kg down!
