I'll stretch to using my debit card. If it's any more involved than that then I'll be parking elsewhere. I don't want to do anything with cash, honestly. It's a pain in the arse.

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22063 posts | I really don't get that. For me no other system of payment is better. Very recently I've seen a few examples of failed electronic payment methods. I was in Gregg's on Friday and they were only taking cash because of a systems failure, which was fine with me.

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17903 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Monday, 21st August, start 15:00 Physio today on the right shoulder which was painful. It also meant that at the gym I was restricted to more remedial stuff which was also deeply unpleasant and far too tedious to bore my gentle readers with. I will return to squats on Wednesday

I'm with Wayne on this one. Cash never really goes wrong. I know of two shops in Tyldesley which are cash only and one which doesn't accept it. All the others (that I know of) accept both. The cafe near the club in Adlington accepts both but their preference is for cash. I am happy to oblige

Member 4923, 1795 posts | A vexing 5. After the 2nd guess it was another case of pot luck to get the 4th letter, as it could've been at least 3 things. As always it took me several attempts. XXXYX GXGXG GGGXG GGGXG

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17903 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | A clumsy four XXGXG XXGXG YXXYX I foolishly "went for it" after the first and was rewarded with nothing more than three letters that were incorrect. So I opted for my usual, vowel-free third which paid dividends. The fourth took a while. Streak is now 70, record still 72. Excitement mounts. In Pulp Fiction, Winston Wolf asks Vincent Vega "how about you Lash LaRue, can you keep your spurs from a jinglig and a jangling"? If I were asked that same question I would answer - "Spurs, yes, Nerves, no"

I haven't seen an electronic payment failure in years. Cash has to be fetched and replenished; it generates change, which is an even bigger nuisance. It's a pain. I have given up on a couple of takeaways that don't take cards; I understand the urge to fiddle the books, but it's simply too much trouble. And it's really no trouble for the shop. I am on the board of my local table tennis club, and we recently got a card machine. It wasn't expensive, the charge is comparable to what it costs us to bank the cash we take, and it saves a huge amount of pissing about with change and floats. We all look forward to the day when all the players just present a card or a phone. Meanwhile, xxxYG xxxYx GGGGG Undeserved luck there.

There was a problem of this nature in my local Co-op very recently. I loudly announced to people in my vicinity that cash is better

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17903 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | An inspired and may I say, bold, four XXXGG XXXXX XYXXX I paused after the first and considered going for it but couldn't readily think of anything to go for it with. The next two factfinders were disappointing and produced very little of a positive nature. I picked up my pen and assumed that the three letters I had would be the last three and then suddenly realized that my own rule offered a word, a fairly obscure one (well certainly in my life and in my vocabulary) and very much a wasted attempt if wrong. Boldness was my friend today. Streak now seventy one
