Decided to change this up and I now choose my son’s opening word and vice versa. He chose ‘Myrrh’ because he’s clearly an arse.

That caused me to cachinnate hugely. Your son impressed me when he, if I recall correctly, "knocked them bandy" many years back.

In choosing that as his opening word he has impressed me again. Please inform him of this.

You have a mind like the proverbial steel trap Pete. That was a conversation that we had fourteen years ago and I can actually remember it quite vividly. It’s made me smile very broadly that you can too. The boy is now a man and is studying Classics at Cambridge who offered him a place a year early. However, that is offset by him trying to sabotage my Wordle, thus he is due a rabbit punch in the kidneys in due course.

Wordle in three, with a little more care I may have made it in two.

But then again, I may not

I remember many things from our correspondence back then, it was an entertaining time and I thank you for it. I would suggest just the one kidney. I do like that boy.

Three also. But you'd have been much less happy with the originally scheduled word, I suspect. http://news.sky.com/story/amp/wordle-two-different-words-in-to...

I believe they have similar outrages with other American spellings, not in my time but I have heard of them. It must be horrible to lose a winning streak over an error

That explains it then - I got the alternate work at about 00:10, but my Mrs got the original word much later in the day at around 17:30.

Out of interest I fired up wordle in a different browser and got the alternate word.

How bizarre!

I suspect that those who had the alternate word either did it very early (before it was changed) or already had the tab open. I always kept a tab open with it in the days before the NYT bought it, and shortly afterwards got a word (Agora) that most didn't, as the NYT killed it for being too obscure, but I still had the old code.

You will get American spellings (only), though, it's an American game.
