Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17884 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Tesco run this morning and holiday tomorrow. Still much doom and gloom but there is a ray, nay a sliver of hope. Thare was talk of Christmas on the radio this morning. Christmas, gentle reader, as you will know is that time of year that people pretend to like, but really, apart from time off work, is pretty s**t. I tend to do Christmas with our kid and his missus, which is a very pleasant time but far from the year's highlight. For many it is a time of pressure, debt, drunkeness and domestic violence. By all accounts for every day of celebration there will be five of lockdown to follow. So, if this Covid is as bad as they claim, and if the NHS is as close to collapse as they say then there is no alternative to cancelling Christmas in the sense that every family should be confined to their homes and the mixing thereof absolutely forbidden. The fact that they are considering it shows that it isn't quite as bad as they say, and if they allow it then it really isn't as bad as they say. Small mercies ?

I certainly won't be visiting my 70+ parents a week after finishing work in a school, it's simply not safe for them. None of us are children, we can have a long, lazy roast another time.

By far and away my most hideous and grotesque bodypart are my toenails. They are mis-shapen, of different thickness, they grow at vastly rates and are generally all things horrible. Be grateful, gentle reader that they are concealed from the world. This morning - they were cut, it was a dreadful business but it is done. The checking of the tyre pressures on the other hand was a delight, I think of it as a reward for the cutting of the nails. They were all checked and all found to be, due to the weather, understabdably a shade low. The footpump was called into operation and they all were re-checked and were found to be utterly lovely. Now, a little before eleven, I find myself, tea in hand, comtemplating another episode of "Lewis". I do like these Fridays off

After all even me saying "Mother, you are saying this out loud. He's here, he can hear you" didn't stop her. If memory serves me correctly, you were micro-chortling then

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17884 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Watching "Ice cold in Alex" for the zillionth time. A film almost as old as I am whose famous last scene later featured in a Calsberg lager advert. If you don't know it, it is the tale of four people travelling across the desert of North Africa in a dilapidated ambulance. Three are Brits and the other is a German spy pretending to be South African. Suspicions are aroused when he doesn't know how to brew tea. While the spy is away to the latrine they discuss the matter "The South Africans brew us the same as we do yet this bloke hadn't a clue" Then he thinks for a moment and adds "And why does he always go to the latrine at exctly the same time?" "Perhaps he's been well brought up" replys the commanding officer. I haven't forgotten that in all the years I been watching this film, it has stuck with me since the very first viewing. How to determine whether some has been well brought up or not - s**tting to the minute.
