Irish gyms aren’t opening until August 10th. Hopefully UK gyms will be sooner.

hes just been sacked...

so will he now be the scape goat and a reason to back track and open up buisness next week???

Two observations.

1. He didn't obey the rules, not didn't believe them. He'd had it, test-confirmed, so is not at risk of catching or spreading. This doesn't make it ok, far from it, but it must NOT be spun as "they don't even believe it themselves".

2. The last occurrence in the story was a month ago. The Telegraph sat on this for four weeks. Why? My suggestion is: to use at a key moment to push what is now their owner's agenda (ending meaningful distancing). That key moment was the day when the UK's death toll became officially the worst in Europe, a story that plays rather clearly against their goals.

Don't be gamed, by Trump and his lab claims or the Telegraph and their curtain-twitching.

Whether the virus came from a wet food market or a lab, it is negligence and the country responsible is liable for the global death rate and the world wide economy crash.

This requires an international court of law and countries to come together to create an international investigation and a international court of law for the
outbreak and prosecution to the country responsible for this negligence.

Keeping seafood, wildlife and live stock in the conditions in a wet food market is unacceptable in the 21st century.

If from the lab this is also unacceptable.

Also the World Health Organisation leaders should resign with immediate effect they have handled the pandemic with complete incompetence.

Worth pointing out that a "wet market" is one selling things that aren't just dry goods like flour and spices. If there's a butcher's, or a fish stall, it's a wet market. There's one in virtually every town in the country, and for that matter in most supermarkets.

also interesting to point out that china -

is 9,706,961 km²
has a population of 1,439,323,776
and 388 cities with between 10,000 and 100,000 people
but only 1 level 4 biolab

some might consider it a stunning coincidence that of all the wet markets, in all the cities and towns in the whole of china, that the wet market that covid-19 originated from is just a few miles away from the only level 4 biolab in the country and that the lab in question specialises in studying bat coronavirus.

Okay Rick your point is taken.

My point is on food standards, animal welfare and hygiene.

The wet food markets in question is not the same standard to my local butcher or grocer, and I sure the hygiene rating is not even rated to any international standard.

Your point might be relevant Will on the lab, but this is still not proven.

Either way if the virus has come from a wet food market or the lab it is negligence and the country responsible is liable.

I will await the post COVID 19 investigation to see who really is responsible if there is an investigation at the end of all of this sorry mess.

I’m not so sure I agree wild wet food slaughter is any worse than an abattoir or chicken battery farm. You don’t get chicken feet anymore because the feet are damaged by breaking or melting in waste. I’d rather eat a bit of wild boar deer than pig chicken any day

And some might consider it a stunning coincidence that a lab set up to study bat coronaviruses would be built in a major city in the area where bats from the wild population with significant coronavirus reservoirs are. They'd not be quite bright, though.

“I am afraid we are only making very slow progress in the Brexit negotiations,” Phil Hogan told Irish broadcaster RTE. “I think that the UK politicians and government have certainly decided that [Covid-19] is going to be blamed for all the fallout from Brexit, and my perception of it is they don’t want to drag the negotiations out into 2021 because they can effectively blame [Covid-19] for everything.” Things that seemed important in 2019, that are off the public discourse menu in 2020.

you might want to look up where the bat species that carries coronavirus originates from.

clue - it isnt wuhan or anywhere close.

just a wee 1887km 24hr drive for the bat poachers to take their wares from a remote cave in yunnan to the wuhan wet market. I am sure that is the way it went down.

That's where the closest match that THAT LAB HAD originated from.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1563713/figure/f1/

Hubei's a pretty reasonable place to put a lab, on that reading.

exactly. the lab was holding samples that are the closest match to covid 19 in wuhan - they got those samples from yunnan.

by that map a pandemic virus could have broken out anywhere over half of china. but it didnt. it broke out right near the lab that discovered and was holding samples of its nearest known cousin. and that cousin originated nearly 2000km away.

whats more likely? that strain managed to migrate from the remote cave in yunnan all the way to a wuhan wet market naturally or that it was taken from the remote cave in yunnan by the biolab scientists and then a variant of it escaped from the biolab they were storing it in?

I think the latter.
