Day off today, and still I am here at 6:30 and have breakfasted.

As Frankie four fingers said in Snatch, "I have stones to sell, fish to fry and many different men to see about many different dogs"

A small amount of serious business first, then Christmas shopping at the centre of Trafford, then training, as we have several honoured guests a-visiting this evening, one of whom can even, quite legitimately be classed as powerlifting royalty. So excitement, as one would expect is fever-pitch.

Then Tesco, then Joe Slumpingtons until the morrow

Ah no. It was a woman, a woman who could, and did say a sentence that contained the words "when I was at the worlds in Dubai last week" with precisely the correct amount of nonchalance in her voice

Today has been a dreadful day, the serious business took longer than it should have but I still had time to make it to the Trafford centre for Christmas shopping. Sadly the one thing that had completely slipped my mind was the daft nonsense we insist on copying the Americans in called Black Friday. The traffic was horrific, the centre was busier than a busy place and hotter than the seventh level of Hell. However I made it there and back and got everything I needed and despite my fuel economy being so bad that I cried real tears, and I still made it to Adders in time to open up. The pressure was on me tonight as I knew we were to have guests and most of the usual keyholders were going to be awol. On arriving I discovered that I had forgotten my gym bag so I did some rows in my street clothes and they bothered my back rather so I called it a day and socialized.

For the record then

T bar row
20 x 10
20 x 10
30 x 10
30 x 10
40 x 10
40 x 10
50 x 10
50 x 10
60 x 10
60 x 10
70 x 10
70 x 10

I have no objections to Black Friday as there are some bargains to be had. My brother, when I saw him a few weeks back, was considering making a purchase of something that cost £500, I advised him, as it was an American company to wait and check their website on November 29, he did and found the very same item on offer for £315. So he is one happy bunny and I cannot object to a saving of £185.

What does distress me rather is the reaction of the British people to Black Friday, the madness that was yesterday was brought about by a few shops knocking a few quid off a few items. Nothing to justify the frenzy that caused it. Hopefully next year I will remember and just stay well away.

You have wisdom Billy. The last three words of that post make you a man well worth listening to.

Mark the whole weekend in your diary as "no retail", is my advice. I have friends visiting today and we would often consider going for Chinese at Middlebrook. Not today though.

It is already done. I can't fault your logic on the Middlebrook either

Monday, 2nd December, start 16:15

After last week's physio the hip is much better but the rear ribs are still sore and lying on them is not much fun. No heroics tonight then.

Bench, very raw
20 x 15
20 x 15
20 x 15
50 x 5
60 x 5
70 x 5
80 x 5
90 x 5
90 x 5
90 x 5
90 x 5
90 x 5
90 x 5
90 x 5
90 x 5
None of these were difficult which was rather the point, very creaky in the back when up off and back onto the bench but it didn't hurt too much, let's hope another week sorts it.

Very cold tonight. Really, very cold

Wednesday, 4th December, start 16:15

Another very cold day, the back and the hip are still not tip top so we will replicate the last deadlift session and see how far we get.

Deadlift, very raw, slippers on, no belt
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
60 x 5
80 x 3
100 x 3
110 x 3
120 x 3
130 x 3
140 x 3
150 x 3
160 x 3
170 x 3
180 x 3
Note to self, put knee sleeves on in future. It took a while to get warm tonight, but by the time I had got to 100 I wasn't too bad, the hip ached in the start position but stopped as soon as I started to move. 180 was enough though, I could have gone higher but it would have been most unwise.

Another day off today, quite a bit warmer than of late. Quite a busy day to be honest, with another on tomorrow and reffing on Sunday. Fell asleep earlier than usual this evening, causing this very late entry. Hopefully tomorrow will have an higher level of consciousness.
