On the plus side...epic squat and nice repping the 300kg on deads there!! Looking strong AF mate.

Meh, I'm not going to dwell on it. This sounds overly macho but it's just pain. By that I mean, there isn't any damage or things that can get worse as it were. Don't get me wrong it hurts like hell but just ignoring it is a valid option. Ha easier said than done though.

I've upped my carbs at lot recently and ti does seem to be having a performance benefit. I plan on messing with the band setup (and keeping 300kg) so that they slack off earlier and give less from the floor. Should be a different sort of progression.

Crap news on the head aches mate but at least you have a solution now, does the heavy lifting have any kind of impact on it ?

It now really a new Thing mate, been happening almost every day for a few months. Usually hits about mid day. It happens on both lifting days and rest days. The doc said its unlikely that lifting would aggravate it since the pinching is in my brain. On the plus side, I have a diagnosis now so fingers crossed the treatment will get it sorted.

Cheers mate. I'm happy with it. I need a different progression now as I only have 300kg at that end of the garage and I'm too lazy to move plates about lol. Hmm maybe time for some new plates.

Ok so my head feels ok today but the med made me feel sick as a dog and gave me restless legs all night. I needed to get my heart rate up and a bit of urgency in me today else I'd just slug out and not do anything. Apparently these are common side effect and usual ease off over time.

Positive Spin
Despite feeling less than 100% due to the side effect of my meds I decided to play with my form and see how some tweaks would work. I've narrowed my grip a little more and I now grip the bar underhand and tighten my lats and upper back before getting under the bar. This works great and I can maintain a tighter position throughout. It also puts me a little more upright which forces my knees further over my toes and for longer. Since I have long legs in comparison to my torso this puts me in a stronger position. I have very strong quads and they have greater leverage for a great part of the ROM. In effect I can use the full power of my legs without the bottle neck of my lower back effecting things too much. I've discovered a much better position and today's 200kg squat was the best one I've ever done. I now need to make all my squats like this one. This is awesome as I feel there is a huge amount of untapped strength here that will have be progressing for months on end. This is one of the best sessions I've had in a long time.

Negative Spin
The meds are killing me, I wanted to either go heavy or hit a rep pb but I just couldn't get out of second gear. The nausea is strong and I constantly feel like I'm about to chuck. Other symptoms are flu like and I just feel bad and with no get up and go. My limbs feel like they are full of lead and everything is a struggle. Guts feel like they want to drop all the time and in fact this is why I decided to unload the bar and go back in the house. I'm pretty sure if I'd done another set it would have been messy. Overall a s**t session with no volume and no intensity.

Cheers lads. Side effects are meant to die down after a few weeks. Another side effect is depression and suicidal thoughts. Sod that, I don't have time for self pity. It'll take anger and hatred as my fuel.

Cheers mate. They felt heavy to say the least. I do need to be sensible though and approach things in a systematic way. Although there might be another week of madness, depends how I feel. It would be nice to have a crack at 350. I've done 345 on the trap bar so would be an all round PB.

TBH the band assisted rollouts just struck me that session. Seems like an obvious regression now. I'll be keeping them, I needed something in the middle to progress up to the full standing rollout and this feels like it. Glad this has helped you out, always nice to be of assistance to a fellow lifter.

I'm sure things will settle down over time but right now the side effects of my meds are pretty strong. There's a bloody laundry list of them too. Muscular weakness? That can do one.

Kept it light today as I'm making form adjustments and working on my tier 2 goals. I've developed a very hip /back dominant squat. Due to my body type (long legs and short toros) this means when I hit my sticking point I have no quads left in the lift to get me through. Therefore I need to adjust the so i have a greater moment arm at the knee. Basically I need to get my knees over my toes and keep them there.

This adjustment was amazing, my quads certainly got involved. It was almost and empty bar feeling.

Sandbag fun
