Training was a bit crazy today since my footing was very unstable. It snowed a lot over the weekend so I was standing on a good inch of ice today. Just stuck with strict pressing as didn't want to rock the boat too much and start jumping around with the weight.

230kg x 1 rep --Very fast easy rep
280kg x 0 reps --Got to mid shin and stalled out.
280kg x 0 reps --Same, mid shin. Think this is close, just need a bit more speed or learn to grind better.

Wanted to do either high (ish) rep deads or shrugs (or both) but near s**t myself on the last rep so decided it was best to leave and have a good clear out.

A1 - Bench Press
60kg x 10 reps
105kg x 3 reps
120kg x 3 reps
135kg x 3 reps --Just going to hit required reps for a bit, my bench used to have a big carryover to my overhead but this has dried up. Need to shift the focus elsewhere.
A2 - Neutral Grip Chin Ups
x 8 reps

x 8 reps --Need more sets here. Want to start hitting 50 total reps on a regular basis.

Incline Press --2 Notches Up
77.5kg x 8 reps

77.5kg x 8 reps --Still new to these and form is a little shakey but much better than last week. Going to increment again next time.

Chucked in various rows, not sure what weight I used or the reps. Was running low on time so just picked up whatever was closest and rowed until I couldn't row any more. Did 3 sets of this.


My lantern was failing today so most sets were done in the gloom. There was a little light but all it seemed to do was highlight the darkness. Lantern is on charge now but I did notice the sun starting to come up as I locked the garage. Will be good to train in the light again, feel like some sort of nocturnal weightlifting chimp right now.

120kg x 3 reps --Think I may have to lower my safety bars since I kept hitting them and could have gone deeper. I've been doing a lot of shoulder dislocations/dislocates recently, think my shoulders were much tighter than I realised. I now seem to have increased ROM on so many lifts, quite amazing really.

90kg x 3 reps --PB new 3RM
102.5kg x 0 reps --Real grinder. Started to grind right from the initial push and failed just above eye height. The whole grinding process took a good 10 seconds and I think if I'd had a few more inches of grind in me I'd have got passed my sticking point and locked the weight out. Happy with that considered I felt beaten up and crappy.

Felt pretty beat up today. I've been helping my brother move house all weekend and so should have called today off, I need the rest. Just did my main work sets and got the f**k out of Dodge.

Nice reps on te strict last couple weeks, unlucky with the deadlift attempt. Looks like you took a huge jump at the top end (230-280)

Cheers Buddy. That was a crazy and dumb jump, should have hit 1 or 2 more lifts in between. It's obvious now I look back at it but at the time it seemed ok. I tend to get a bit single minded with deadlift 1RM. Think I need to hold off for a bit and give the training time to work before I try for a bit PB again. I'll still hit some heavy singles just not PB attempts.

i dont think a 50kg jump on deadlift is bad at all.

work on your speed off the floor loads of speed pulls and blast through that sticking point

Not so much at the bottom ie 70-120. That's a normal jump but VG has always told me as the weight gets higher the jumps should always get smaller to maximise neural activation or efficiency.

Played around with power snatches and btn push press. Nothing impressive just getting things moving my elbows are still a bit sore so just loosening things up a bit. On the plus side they felt much better after.

18" Rack Pull
120kg x 5 reps --Pulled far to hard on the first rep and turned it into a bas***dised high pull.
160kg x 5 reps
192.5kg x 5 reps
222.5kg x 3 reps
252.5kg x 10 reps --PB new 10RM, could have ground out a few more but I was at technical failure here. Love how these make my hamstrings feel.

Feel pretty happy about today, not sure if I'll be at full strength for bench on Thursday but we shall see.

Played Around with BTN push press worked up to 60kg. Nothing amazing, will be playing about with this for a bit. If it bugs my shoulders I'll drop it but right now I like it.

My 22 month old son was with me today strapped into his push chair. Couldn't get into beast mode had to stay firmly in Dad mode. Also spent a fair amout of time coaching my brother. He's got beaten up shoulders but still insists on bench pressing. I had him do close grips with his elbows tucked the whole time. He hated it but got through the session pain free. He also hated the massive amount of rows I had him doing but did them anyway.

155kg x 0 reps --Front Squat, upper back fatigued, plenty of leg power.
155kg x 1 rep --Dead squat, had to rerack the failed attempt from the safeties. This was proper deep, think my arse actually touched the floor.
A2 - Farmers Walk
95kg(Each Hand) x 40m(Turn @20m)

95kg(Each Hand) x 40m(Turn @20m) --Grip started to fail in my right hand but managed to keep going. Speed was notably slow than with 90kg, I could really motor with 90 but 95 felt much slower. I was hitting around the 20 second mark for the round trip, not sure how that compares to 90 since I didn't time those.

Realised I've been squatting high bar, switched to low bar, feels different not sure what else to say. Think I need to keep front squats as assistance and not try and max out on them. For some reason I can feel my p chain more when I front squat compared to regular squat.

I've got a home made log so I can't really call it a log press, instead I call it a ghetto log press. Basically its a beer keg with scafold poles through it. I'll have to post a picture.
