congrats Eddie!

Did you see the lifts? Shaw is stronger at raw deadlifting. I think he will beat Ed at the deadlift championship, unless Ed ups his game again.

There isn't much between them at pulling.

You're allowed to drop at the Arnold's.

The others don't drop because they use the figure of 8 straps.

Notice this is already being heralded the new "world record".

If they want it to be a world record then it shouldn't have been with custom plates on a weird ass custom bar that quite frankly looks f**king horrendous.

At least Eds Melbourne record and lifts from the deadlift championships were done with calibrated plates and a conventional bar.

Judging by how hard Ed made that 465 look I can't possibly see how he would hit 500 anytime soon, I seriously hope I'm wrong though, just doesn't seem to be on the same form he was last year.

EDIT - from Eds Facebook:
So I just made a new world record on a long bar deadlift 465kg infront of Arnold Schwarzenegger
It was really tough, it went really fast to the knees and then the bar whip just took me forward which made it really tough, if it had been a standard bar I'd have just stood up. I pulled 460kg minutes prior to this after a really long delay from my warm ups which made it even tougher I.e. Crap conditions. So I'm the first man in history to pull 1000lbs twice in one day and within 10 minutes.

Fair enough.

Shaw actually played it very tactical and probably thought Ed was close to 500kg form.

He did 420kg to be definitely ahead of Z

He did 444kg to definitely beat Thor..I actually think if Pritchett hadn't pulled 456kg he would have left it there.

So he then pulls 463kg to get ahead of Pritchett and potential event win if Eddie can't pull more..which I think he assumed he would comfortably.

We can't judge for sure if he is much stronger, until they hit an ordinary bar.

Strongman WR before deadlift champs(well benni did pull 445kg prior)..was done on an axle with Z and Shaw both doing it. No one cared about the flex difference then and the advantageous bar they were using at the deadlift champs in comparison.

This was from regular deadlift height so will count just as much as deadlift champs.

If they want an official WR they will need to do a powerlifting meet without straps.

It is the same with log and the width.

Anyone else think the outstanding result here was Pritchett?

Ed's, Shaws and Thors were about what people expected but I didn't know Jerry was capable of that kind of weight.

Also regarding Z, either he is carrying some sort of back injury or he's just not got it anymore? Be great to hear it from the man himself if he is actually carrying a long term back injury.

He won the deadlift at BSM about 3 years ago with 430+..he has been great for years. He does seem much stronger this year going off training vids.

I was about to mention Pritchett. Great effort and I had a hunch he might beat Z.
