Couldn't someone else have gone in his place then?

No disrespect to any 120+ lifters but u don't think we have anyone upto standard in the 120+ unequipped snrs so might aswell use the selection spot elsewhere and double up lifters in another class such as sending Tom and Steve

Would have been great to see Ali lift at 120+ but he's still a jnr

On a diffrent note would of been great to see what super heavys of previous years would have done under classic rules I recon the likes of dean, clive and jim would have been hitting massive numbers unequipped

Sumo gets a lot of stick but go to 2:25:30 for a lesson on how to make it look sexy with a heavy weight. Controlled pinch off the floor, hips through early and then watch the bar accelerate. It's beautiful.

It's been quite a crazy world championship, with improvements of all open male classes since last year.

Sergey Fedosienko's 661 kg total in -59 kg that scored him the championship's highest total, is worth a watch.

and obviously Ray William's 412,5 kg squat is out of this world!

I (along with a good few others on here) saw a masters lifter a few years back pull 400, maybe more, in a north west championships organised by Bryn Evans under GBPF rules, which I believe comes under the auspices of the IPF.
The general attitude towards him from the PL fraternity was quite unwelcoming and he never competed again.
There's no further point to this post.

I realised that it was always going to be controversial Mark lifting in the GBPF coming from a sport that does not have a strict anti drug policy but he was subject to the same rules as everyone else. The feeling from the senior gbpf management at the time was that his involvement in the sport could actually be quite positive. The negative vibe can easily get amplified by Internet forums where trolls can make it seem far worse and it was probably non gbpf members doing all the shouting. He was intending doing a national event but the one we held at Accrington clashed with other commitments he had. Certainly some of the people who were in the room on that day have remarked years later it was one of the most impressive lifts they've ever seen.

Such a shame ..

As in a small gym in Adlington in the tiniest of all competitions i`ve seen a man deadlift 400kg or over on 3 separate occasions .

Yet on the biggest of all stages 340kg takes gold .

You should have a go at it.

Belkin couldn't budge 350 for a WR attempt. You can do 20kg more than that.

Links will be on the IPF website, they are pretty quick on getting the whole sessions up.

in that case, your stats are wrong...
your total and deadlift best are equipped not unequipped?

Just curious as there was the Hungarian Dr in the 93's that lifted less than the QT for the British Champs. I'd maybe suspect injury but all 3 of his lifts were 'low'.

That Hungarian doctor is an obvious juicer.

If I recall correctly Felix went 320 / 182.5 / 400 = 902.5. There's no way of knowing what he left on the platform that day but he would have been in the hole to the tune of 145kg on the sub-total to Williams, so there's no way he's pulling that back.

He would definitely had a shot at a medal though.
