Belated congratulations on an awesome competition performance!
what are the goals for the British? How long have you been training for now? Ever thought of getting some 1 to 1 training in with Andy Bolton?

unit 94, best of luck mate! Where there's a will there's a way.... Or where there's a will there's a Hafthor Bjornsson standing in the way.

I'm more than capable of reaching the pinnacle of the 105's.

Anyway, update:

HB Squat - 160kg x 3reps PB, 155kg x 5 reps PB
Bench - 147.5kg x 5 reps PB
Log - 127.5kg x 3 reps PB

It took the roof off when he came up with 440kg, I've got goose bumps thinking about it now, nobody expected him to pull it. I was near him after he lifted it and he had quite a few bust blood vessels in his face, titanic effort.

This what you are referring to?

Then I'm not quite sure you understand my perspective, or have made any effort to. My goals are a little more rounded than competetive powerlifting.

well, in that case i apologise. I can assure you my assumption of your goals were not derived through a lack of effort.

You don't believe in strengthening a larger range of motion and improving mobility?
How do you feel about front squats, deficit deads, SLDL, CGBP..?

personally, no i don't. I just cant see the carryover. After all isn't everything you do ultimately selected, designed and implemented for competition in mind?

front squats - I don't see the need for it, if ones goal is a big competition back squat.
deficit deads - similar to paused squats, no. It creates a completely different lift working a range of motion that wont exist on the platform.
sldl - for someone who is a round back deadlifter, and who's hips come quite high early in the deadlift, I can see the logic in the inclusion of this movement.
cgbp - no. It requires a wholly different set up and works a different set of muscle groups. Remember I'm talking from your perspective (a competitive powerlifter), for me personally i would include this in my programming, because of the carryover to overhead pressing.

Do these paused squats really help?
especially as come a competition you cut your depth, thus don't come close to reaching such depth and positioning?

Been some heavy work this week!
just a snippet:

deadlift 300 x 1 pb & 285 x 2
bench 165 x 2 pb
sldl 275 x 1 pb
log 135 x 1 pb
front squat 180 x 1 pb 170 x 2 pb

time to cut back on single and double work... Next phase is a focus on 3 and 5 rep pb's.

s**tty ambition. Opens is where it is at.

I'd want nothing more than an open WSM Title, however I see my self as a highly rational thinker, and at 5ft 11 I'm too short... I wont accept anything other than 1st.

I just can't imagine anybody having the desire, determination and discipline I have at this moment in time.

I'm saying this now; I will be the best 105kg Strongman In the world by the time I leave my 20's.

Pikefingers said:I really think that Benni is unbeatable (barring injury) if he's even close to his best. When he did the 445 strongman record he hadn't been back in full training for long.

There is a video on youtube somewhere of him attempting either 480 or 500 (can't remember which) and it left the floor. Was a full ROM attempt, not a hummer deadlift.

Having said that if Andy was in the form he was in when he did 457.5 I would probably xpect him to beat Benni atvthe moment.

At what point does it leave the floor? The guy has just hand hand surgery... He's lifting with a make shift hook. He's the greatest deadlifter the world has ever seen, however even he wont be setting any world records come the day of the competition.

Felix will only pull 400. No more

you're so exact with everything you say, it can be likened to the conviction of a man who has immense confidence arising from success...

Lets see if you are proven right:

1. Andy Bolton will set a new all time strongman deadlift record.
2. Mark Felix will pull 400kg, nothing more.
