What do *you* think that you'd have to lift to label yourself a 'deadlift monster'? It's a genuine question and it's so subjective that ten different blokes might provide ten different answers.

If I was in your shoes I'd be deadlifting more a lot more frequently than once per week, even if not always heavy. I'd also spend more time on general strength to build that final deadlift peak higher than what it could be by deadlifting alone.

You did ask what we thought.

I'll echo what everyone else has said, there's no need to become a 'specialist' at 16 years old.

At this point you should be focusing on getting your technique perfect more than anything else.

Milsy, I like the way you think mate! Particularly the strength pyramid...

I wouldn't even bother thinking about specializing just yet. Lift often, get strong, enjoy it and see where it takes you. If you are meant to be a deadlift "specialist" then you will end up as one with the training you do i.e. squatting, pulling etc.

You are the same as me. When i first started my squat got nowhere but my deadlift went up loads. i ended up with 130/210 and my ratio is still similar. I ended up getting frustrated with the squat and for a while I neglected it. The turning point was realising that the squat is supposed to feel how it does - hard. then squatting more often

Miisy is right, it's all about the ratios, and yours tell me that all your lifts are pretty much on a par.
You are only young and very much a novice. If you were to grab 100 blokes off the street most would be able to deadlift 120, but only a handful would squat it, perhaps 80-90kgs would be the benchmark squat.

If anything I would say your squat is your best lift. Your deadlift is the heaviest sure, but for one so young and relatively inexperienced, your squat is pretty good, you have good quad development and show a lot of potential.

It is easy to get carried away with early gains in the deadlift. To make a decision like that now would be a mistake. People have 20-40 year careers in this sport, don,t make any rash decisions.

Ed Coan Squat peaking routine (start with 2x8 and after 12 wks 1x1)
Speed Deadlift (??)
Abs

Unless you have a meet in twelve weeks I would just f**king lift. Are you the sort of person who needs a pre-planned routine to allow you to mentally buy in to what you are doing?

It's what I'm doing now (just squating)

But his bench and DL plans works for me so why not doing his squat routine?
20kg improvment in 12 wks is pretty good no?

Twenty Kilos in twelve weeks is fine progress, but remember it is a 'peaking' routine.

Have you posted footage of your squats? If not, I am sure you will get plenty of pointers if you want / need it.

Trying to run before you can walk.
Always focus on a weak lift/ balanced training. Something will always lag slightly, then alter etc.
Work on your form, definitely squat form.
Box squats also, I see absolutely no point, or transfer to regular, why bother. Just do a 4 day split (bench, squat,dead,ohp) and an events day if u do strongman. Stick to something simple like 5x5 or 5,3,1
