I appreciate that this is 'Merica but the issue of powders not containing what they say seems pretty universal.

There's a whole raft of top lifters, strongmen, bodybuilders who dont seem to bother too much with powders seems to be increasing.

Vince Urbank put a post of his, frankly reduncleous, back and a comment about eating 3lbs of beef a day.

Jon Anderson, strongman and pro wrestler was talking about eating a similar amount of meat daily.

Intredasting

This has always been obvious to me. If you want to get big and strong would you mix a powder with water and drink it or eat beef, chicken, fish and eggs

Why is it an "either... or" situation? No one is saying protein powder is way better than meat or some sort of super food. Its just really convenient.

Wow well done Myprotein, they practically dicked on everyone else. Optimum Nutrition seem like the only one that rivals them on their whey, but when you consider the price difference...

Also probably worth a mention that this was myprotein impact whey, and not the fancy isolate. I think it was also the flavoured version.

There is only so much protein content possible, its not supposed to be "pure".

Agreed - but how many people base their protein purchases on macro levels, which are way (whey) off

But it should be fairly close to the levels quoted - in many of these cases it's not, even slightly.

There are many analogies that I could make - but you buy protein powder for ..... protein . If it's not got much in it then you've been ripped off.

No way of knowing if that "Study" is accurate. Could be totally made up for all we know - much like the quoted protein content of any powder.

One would be naive to think that any protein shake contains 80% as usually stated on the label which is why one's protein eggs should not be contained in a single protein shake basket. Wink

I won't mention where I got my last protein from but it had the taste of gum esp when mixing with cereals. Yet the company involved could have a certificate of "batch tested protein" that looks legit.

When I looked up different proteins online I discovered that some have not one type of gum but three! I'm not a food technologist so forgive me if I'm mistaken but if the protein contains something like so

Vanilla: Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Fructose, Inulin (Chicory Root Extract), Erythritol, Vanilla Flavor, Soy Lecithin, Gums (Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Carrageenan), Salt, Cream Flavor, Sodium Ascorbate, Rebiana (Rebaudioside A).

We must be looking at low % protein with all those "fillers".
