Benni outpulls Shaw and doesn't take the overly wide stance that Shaw does

Terry is not dissimilar size to Shaw, and favours a narrower grip and stance

I'd be interested to know why Shaw favours the tech he does, so that I could apply it to my own training Happy

Email him and let him know. Maybe if he then pulls 470kg or even 500kg he'll dedicate it to you. Or maybe Brian Shaw, maybe knows a thing or two about lifting up Heavy s**t.

I reckon he does have the best grip in the world, there's the video of Rich Williams just about lifting the circus dumbbell at the Arnold with one hand, Brian Shaw comes out and lifts it like a toy!

Hes obviously one of the strongest guys in the world but if anyone else posted a video with that form everyone would be calling it very inefficent so I don't think its a stupid comment to make.

Its a moot Point anyway as I know for a FACT that them blue plates are from Salt Ayre, and along with the log are underweight

It looks to me like he's been copying Mishas technique

You gotta email him now so we can all find out WTF he's playing at.

Again, not trying to take anything from brian, hes bull strong and has crazy potential in any kind of strength lift, but this is again more a test of hand size than anything else, being that the handle is so thick (3 inches). He has droped farmers walk implements in a number of contests i've seen so i wouldnt say its a strength of his considering how well rounded and top notch he is at almost every event.

Ive wondered about this technique. I like look of it and noticed loz and misha to name just a few use it too. Does it favour stronger hips glutes and maybe quads rather than lower back?
AvatarEDCLARKE
bloodyhell I'd forgotten how quick Terry's 440k pull was , its actually a better pull than Shaws 446k i think.

That's exactly what I thought, watching it again.

i've toyed with a wider stance and found it allows me to get more quads into the lift but the only problem is you have to have a wider grip which extends the range of motion - not so much of a problem with straps/hitching but not ideal otherwise.

that having been said my deadlift is crap Grin

Not intending to take anything away from any of the pulls but for me, Benni is the clear winner in the pull as he's in un-equipped, without straps and its a clean pull, no hitch whatsoever!

Shaws pull is MASSIVE! No doubting that at all; Terry's pull is also massive but hasnt he got a deadlift suit on (the straps over his shoulders look like it but I may be wrong)

Misha's pulling is just poetry but it isnt anywhere near the loads Terry & Shaw have pulled (and also no where near Z's pull) but I'm sure with straps and a bit more training he'd come VERY close indeed

I know that a strongman deadlift isnt as refereed as a powerlifting pull but you cant take away the sheer cleanness of Benni's pull and his grip strength to boot!
