I'm all short tempered when I've not trained, like a bear with a sore head. On the plus side I'm off work on Friday and have the morning free (well 2 hours anyway) so I'll be getting as much training done as I can. Then it's off to the beer festival for lots of food and lot and lots of drink. Then a quick nip in the lap dancing club on the way home. Really looking forward to it.

It's in Hastings on the 11th August. The yoke is my biggest worry as always and it's my first attempt above novice (unless you count u90 as above novice?). I'll be doing an event session every week either on Wednesday morning or Sunday afternoons if I can get a gang together. I also plan to put some light log work in my daily warm up. Just to get used to the motion and work on a little fitness.

Friday sounds FUN!!!

I think the event sounds very good, if it were closer i'd be tempted myself.
The extra event training will no doubt pay off, I think you could do very well actually mate.

Fingers in ears La la la, not listening. I thrive on the fear, it moulds me, gives me purpose.

My aims are:
8 reps on the log, I've had 6 in the past, fitness is the only real hold up.
12+ reps on the deadlift, if my grip holds out then I can't see why I wouldn't get this.
Farmers just needs to be quick.
Loading I have no idea since they objects haven't been announced.
Yoke is the big worry. I'm going to be doing ~180kg runs for 50m as quick as I can. I might go up to 200kg and do a few pick up with heavier but the aim is light and fast.

Thursday 11th July 2013

--WARM UP--

KB Swings
7.5kg x 50 Reps

Band Face Pulls
x50 reps
x50 reps

Axle Complex 60kg
Deadlift x 3 reps +
BOR x 3 reps +
Power Clean x 3 reps +
Military Press x 3 reps +
Squats x 3 reps +
BTN Push Press x 1 rep

EZ Curls
30kg x 10 reps
40kg x 10 reps
30kg x 10 reps --Reverse

All the curls are getting a bit on the easy side. Once I'm doing 40's with ease on all sets I'll up middle set weight. I have to keep reminding myself the aim here is to warm up my elbows and get some blood in the tendons not to go bat s**t crazy.

--MAIN WORK--

Ghetto Log -- FTOH
45kg x 10 reps --Fast and easy, gassed me a little but if I'd wanted to I could have carried on. The aim was 10 reps, next time I'll put a little weight on, say 50kg. The aim is always 10 reps as fast as possible.

Bench Press
60kg x 5 reps --Reverse Grip
100kg x 3 reps --Reverse Grip
100kg x 3 reps
120kg x 3 reps
130kg x 1 rep
140kg x 1 rep
150kg x 1 rep --Very slow but I'm happy wit that considering it's a near equal PB and I haven't given much focus to benching in an age. With a little dedication I can see a new PB on the cards. However I'm going to ditch bench in favour of ghetto log work for the time being. After the comp bench will be back.

--EXTRA'S--

Chin Ups
x 6 reps
x 6 reps
x 6 reps
x 6 reps
x 6 reps
x 6 reps

1xDB Z-Press
40kg x 3 reps (Each Side)
40kg x 3 reps (Each Side)
40kg x 3 reps (Each Side)
40kg x 3 reps (Each Side)
40kg x 3 reps (Each Side)
40kg x 3 reps (Each Side) --I've now loaded the DB with 41kg in prep for the next cycle.

Very strong mate, looks like a bench PB is there with zero bench training!
Dare I ask wtf a ghetto log is? What have you screwed together??!

It's a bit of a shocker to me as well, I was hoping 140kg would still be there anything else is a bonus.

This is the ghetto log, it's 45kg unloaded (well about 46.5kg but I don't count the spare change). There's an added bonus in that my brother hates this video Grin

It's basically a 15" log. After using this for a few weeks an IFSA log feels tiny.

Signed upto the inters Hastings comp, the novice was not really challenging plus my mate is doing the u92kg on the same day. Looking forward to it.

That log looks like a great piece of kit to be training with.

I too seem to get more power with a more narrow grip on pressing. This is most apparent in my bench.

I enjoy watching your vids, keep them coming!
