Thanks Millsy, I knew I could rely on you mate... especially as I was thinking of going for a 7s PB next session. I may even bring back out the vPBs now that Tokar is confirmed RIP.

Point noted RE other exercises!!

If you knew the mighty 5/3/1 system one of the things is that you work with sub-maximal weights like 70-80% and aim for like 5s one week 3s the next etc but the last set you go for a rep pr, so you get 8-10 reps like you are doing.

Anyway!
I think Neil aka Thing does this.

Mr small i do indeed use a 5/3/1 on certain movements but i all honesty i try and use a 5/3/2 and use the suggested weight on each set.

i can send you it through.

9th April, The Cellar

Close Grip Bench Press
20 x 8 x 2
50 x 3
60 x 3
70 x 3
80 x 3
90 x 1, 3, 2

Mid Shin Deadlift
20 x 8 x 2
60 x 5 x 2
80 x 5
90 x 5
100 x 5 x 2

Benching was a pile of wank tonight... I was unusually not using the pair of 25s, so I convinced myself they were maybe part of some Jonny Mill's Bodypower Collection hand-me-downs. I even went and got the scales out... but they were both 25, so it must just have been an off night Grin

Nearly killed myself a few times with one incident involving a scream of "s**tttt!!!" when I missed the re-rack ... I just about managed to regain control though... dicey stuff this cellar training. Girlfriend told me to "stop being stupid and lift lighter weights".

Any lighter and I'd be benching a broom-stick with a chocolate digestive on each side Unhappy

Deadlifts starting to feel lighter. End transmission.

Close Grip Bench Press
20 x 8 x 2
50 x 5
60 x 3
70 x 5
80 x 6
85 x 6
87.5 x 5

All very quick ... in and out in 15 mins or so... wanted to get back to watch King Arthur.

Need a plan really.

16th April, The Cellar

Close Grip Bench Press
20 x 10 x 2
40 x 5
55 x 3
70 x 3
80 x 1
90 x 6 PB
75 x 15 PB

Mid Shin Deadlift
20 x 10 x 2
60 x 5 x 2
85 x 5
95 x 5

Nice return to form on the benching, sodded off the attempted transition to elbows tucked, felt like there might have been another in the top set. Rep set burned!!!

TRAINING FOR THE BURN?
Is there no end to your blasphemy and evil ways?!

Good 90x6 mate. Grin

By my calculations you are good for a 112.5kg bench.

Thanks Boar old mate.

Cheers Quads of Cyprus, do you mean normal grip 112.5? I would be interested to see really, but I wouldn't want to do it training alone. I will have to get to Adders at some point over the next few months for a max session. Time is my enemy Angry

However you did the 75x15, if close grip then close grip.

What's wrong with my might man-legs!

My complex calculation is:

Weight in Lbs x Reps x 0.0333 + Weight = Predicted 1 RM.

Scientific fact to back this up not available Happy
I hope this further supports my reputation as a man with a complex plan.
