I thought it was going to be a demo so was pleasantly surprised to find it was an actual comp (this wasn't clear from the marketing literature though). Not sure everyone went 'all out' in the competition but all the guys did enough to make it seem a real contest. Arena was small, packed out both days, crowd seemed to love it. The guys did a good job on the stand meeting and greeting. This is the cool bit for the fans, getting up close to the strongmen, esp the big names. I was there on Sunday morning to grab some interviews. Talked to Big Z who was very nice and smiley! I wanted to interview Terry but he wasn't on the stand when I was there. Another time maybe  All in all, thought it was worth the entry fee for folks and good for the WSM brand (and by extension, the sport itself). BTW I asked everyone I interviewed what they thought about the format of the event and all were a bit cagey (obviously). Z did mention that this is the first time he's done the same events 2 days in a row and I guess that's similar for many of the guys. I'm curious as to how tough it was. | ||
