Anyone tried Lilly's Cube method? I've not read the book yet but will prob get it soon to look into it. I think it basically involves rotating speed work, heavy and rep work.

This stems from Del's 300x10 deadlift post on FB today, saying he's doing the Cube...

I've not got the book or tried it but I am in the Cube group on facebook and its flooded with people claiming massive pb's from it. Either its revolutionary (lol) or maybe they were all just lazy beforehand.

Doesn't sound too dissimilar from the forced entry method in terms of max, speed and rep sessions.

Not very much.

Don't think there is much rep work in westside, mainly max and dynamic effort.

Reading Lillys blog a long time ago gave me the idea to write Forced Entry using some of the rotation principles he mentionned. I actually emailed him discussing my ideas to develop the Cube for strongman but got no reply, so I cracked on and developed my ideas and some of his into FE method. He later brought out his book, as did Josh Thigpen.

He based the cube on some Westside principles.

Which in turn were based on conjugate methods.

Nothing's new, revolution not evolution and all that Grin

I'd like to think that the FE method brings things together a bit better for Strongman training than the Cube, and has some good templates to guide you.

Horses for courses though, the Cube is pretty damn good.

I got good gains on the FE method the few months I ran it.

Bulldog at Genesis and a lad I know called Merat who's a top lifter at 75kg use it and have both improved their raw lifts by a lot, i personally think its a good method, think Lilley got fed up of all the kit Westside use,and now limits bands, equipment for more straight hard graft, which can't be a bad thing.

But like mentioned above, its nothing new, think UK lifters have always grafted this way tbh.

I am sure hes a great guy. However I dont see how he is making the sport more popular?

Hes dam strong for sure, but never seen any evidence of him squating to depth in a meet. This is despite him beating on about it now. Whats with that thing were he wore a bench shirt at a raw meet?

I am sure he gives good advice and the methods he exposes (not really his) are fine and dandy. However.he ultmatly comes across as an online guru/coach whose found his new angle.

I fail to see this as a great thing.

However as I alluded too, he could be cool. Hence the use of a mildly derogative term for his online persona.
