bas***d patella tendinitis has flared up again. Serves me right for hitting a PB. Pissed me right off. Anyone got any quick fixes? How can I still squat/deadlift on it?

Also, a lot of ice and some rest. Only does whatever doesnt hurt it. Everyone seems to be getting tendinitis somewhere (including me) and its horrid

Cheers Owen. I had it earlier this year, had physio, but I reckon this time it's purely due to poor flexibility following my squat session on Saturday. The DOMS I had prevented any bloody stretching. Nob.

I find squatting actually helps mine. The full range of motion feels much better than short dips from say a push press

Ive been getting flareups in my right knee lately as it goes , found that wearing thor knee sleeves makes squatting bearable , been wearing them for deads as well and they dont seem to affect my form too much so sticking with them for the time being Happy

I know of no quick fixes. In my experience it's compression, rest and rehab that fixes mine.

Bit of non weight bearing cardio, rowing for example after every session or as light recovery helps mr when i can be bothered!

Well, I stopped doing the single leg incline squats the physio prescribed as the pain had completely subsided. More fool me.

So should I stop normal squatting completely or, just go light again?

After the initial period of a week or maybe two where you stop exercising and let any inflammation wear off, you really need to look at getting back in the gym. Try and figure out what exactly is making your knees hurt. Unless you're completely f**ked up, squatting is a very natural movement for your body. So if it's causing pain then it's something you're doing or the way your body moves while squatting that's causing issues.

Use a video camera, compare yourself with other people who are built like you and see if you can spot anything.

Ok, good shout. I did some Zerchers which I haven't done since my last lay off with the same problem. Didn't figure it was those, but but I did them light and with speed/explosiveness so perhaps they over loaded the tendon too much?

Do you work yours when rehabing i.e. other than rehab exercises?

Perhaps yeah, I was thinking it's more likely something to do with your squat form.

I already use those sleeves now, just for some warmth and support. Might try wrapping below the knee and see what happens.

Could be. The PB I hit on Saturday required a lot of hip drive on the way up, so perhaps my form faltered somewhat? I'll get some vids done.
