Member 2322, 2464 posts SQ 260, BP 175, DL 312.5747.5 kgs @ 105kgs UnEq | Thought i best start a training log here seeing as im permanently lurking the board...mainly following Cleggy,Tom,BigKen and Hixxy and a few others logs and adventures in the strength scene , but also i have a big interest in other Scots on the board I'm 34 years old and from Aberdeenshire , been training now for 18 months , started with standard cast iron weights and a 5 foot bar , quickly outgrew that so about 6 weeks ago i went the whole hog and bought an olympic bar and 185kg package from an online store.I live in a rural town and the gym here is shocking , designed for females and cardioaholics only,it doesnt even have somewhere to benchpress let alone squat. I have been following the stronglifts 5x5 training mainly but im currently stuck with squat progression because i dont have a rack or stands , need to invest in a garage or large shed before i can acquire this though. My current lifting stats are : Height : 6foot 2 Weight : 97kg Squat : 1x97.5kg (bar) , 1x130kg (leverage machine) Bench press : 1x125kg (bar) , 5x150kg (leverage machine) Deadlift : 1x177.5kg (bar) Overhead Press : 1x87kg (bar) Short term my goals are a 140kg bp , 200kg dl , 100kg ohp , and squat i would love 2x bw but atm it feels a mile off because of the lack of a rack or stands Eventually i would love to get involved in a comp or 2 but that feels a long way off to be fair. MON 25.4.11 SQUAT 5x5 @ 75kg Overhead Press 1x10 @ 40kg 3x5 @ 70kg (5,4,4: Shoulders felt fried for the last reps) Deadlift 1x5 @ 75kg 1x5 @ 130kg 1x5 @ 160kg ( grip was failing for last rep ) | ||

Member 2322, 2464 posts SQ 260, BP 175, DL 312.5747.5 kgs @ 105kgs UnEq | WED 27.4.11 Training with my m8 at what is going to be my permenant gym , we just agreed to move all my weights to his outhouse and combine our resources SQUAT 1x5 @ 47kg 4x5 @ 87kg 1x5 @ 107kg PB(still no rack but i kept weights on back and my m8 put 10kgs on each side then locked it up !! nice to feel like im working) Bench Press 1x5 @ 67kg 5x5 @ 92kg 1x4 @ 112kg Bent Over Row 3x10 @ 62kg 3x5 @ 82kg So happy to finally have a real space to workout in , and to have a similar sized guy to train with , finally get space for a squat rack and give the other half her bedroom floor back | ||

SQUAT 1x5 @ 47kg 1x5 @ 60kg 5x5 @ 90kg Overhead Press 2x5 @ 47kg 3x5 @ 65kg Deadlift 1x5 @ 60kg 1x5 @ 100kg 1x1 @ 115kg 1x1 @ 130kg 1x1 @ 150kg 1x5 @ 162.5kg ( really strong for these , but as usual after 5th rep my grip was failing hard and i almost ripped the callouses off my right hand ! ) 1x1 @ 180kg PB Went up fast 1x1 @ 185kg ( f,f : both attempts came off the floor fast , but my grip just wasnt there for the lockout) Tricep Pulldowns 3x10 @ 32.5kg Bench Press 1x5 @ 60kg 1x5 @ 100kg 1x5 @ 110kg 1x1 @ 130kg (f,f : my training partner encouraged me to go for 130 , when i fancied a go at 127.5kg , should have went with my instincts in hindsight! , unracked and got to chest and felt strong but after the initial push from chest i had nothing left for the lockout) Weighed myself today weight 99kg .... wtf is going on with this !!! | ||

The gym has everything you'd need including loads of strongman equipment, owned by a guy called Ian Murray. | ||

SQUAT 1x10 @ Bar 1x5 @ 47kg 3x5 @ 67.5kg Overhead Press 1x10 @ bar 2x5 @ 47kg 3x5 @ 60kg Deadlift 1x10 @ 67.5kg 1x5 @ 117.5kg 1x5 @ 165kg (3,didnt really feel like a fail because i had 4 hours golfing pre workout then no food cos of a mad rush to get this done before the football, so i kind of expected to fail because i was STARVING!!!!) No assistance work today , again down to time ... | ||

SQUAT 1x10 @ bar 1x5 @ 47kg 1x5 @ 65kg 5x5 @ 95kg Bench Press 1x10 @ bar 1x5 @ 60kg 1x3 @ 90kg 1x1 @ 110kg 1x1 @ 127.5kg PB(lockout was hard as usual but i always had it under control :] ) 3x5 @ 105kg 2x5 @ 85kg Bent Over Row 1x5 @ 60kg 5x5 @ 87.5kg ( a few flaky reps , but on the whole solid ) Deadlift 1x1 @ 100kg 1x1 @ 140kg 1x1 @ 182.5kg PB (this flew up , real strong!) Tricep Pulldown SS with CG Bench Press 3x10 @ 30kg/60kg Incline Situp 3x20 Really happy with the 2 PB's , and really enjoyed training with 2 guys for a change , quite nice to see the differing squat techniques especially. | ||

Member 2322, 2464 posts SQ 260, BP 175, DL 312.5747.5 kgs @ 105kgs UnEq | MON 9.5.11 Back to the grind and feeling well rested and raring to go SQUAT 1x10 @ bar 1x 5 @ 60kg 5x5 @ 100kg (last set was a 10 , just to prove to myself that when cage arrives next week the bigger numbers are well within grasping distance) Overhead Press 1x10 @ bar 1x5 @ 47kg 3x5 @ 62.5kg Deadlift 1x10 @ 60kg 1x5 @ 100kg 1x3 @ 130kg 1x5 @ 165kg (4 only , fingers were about 2 inches longer after 4th rep !!! ) 1x5 @ 145kg (grip still felt crap on 5th but at least i got the full 5 on this ) 1x1 @ 185kg (tried straps for the first time ever and destroyed this , clearly my grip is the weak link atm with my DL's) Grip Work (Farmers walk with 2 56'ers,supersetted with 2x5kg plate hold each hand) 3x10 garage shuttles (260m) with the 56'er , followed straight after with 2x5kg plate grip and hold for time , all 3 were roughly 45sec holds Dumbbell Hammercurl 2x8 @ 25kg Incline situp 3x20 Good session , was interesting to find out that my left hand is FAIL when it comes to gripping for long periods , even though its my dominant side . | ||
