When I had finished it, I still needed my hit of Mafia Drama so I acquired the Godfather movies. 40 minutes into the first one I turned it off. So very boring. I consider it one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It's likely I was spoiled by the awesomeness of The Sopranos, but unfortunately there is no way back. So so wrong brah. The problem with more modern gangster stuff is it de-emphasises the whole "family" aspect of what the Godfather paved all those years ago. First time I watched the Godfather the 30 minute wedding scenes at the beginning were boring as f**k, I wanted to skip them and just see people get garotted with cheesewire. But the more I watched it the more I loved the whole thing, family scenes in the house/garden/office are just epic and the director tried real hard to stay as close to the way real life mafia families were ran... drew said: The godfather is mine. It's slow dull and people like it because they think they should Definitely disagree with this. It's anecdotal but I have tested this hypothesis myself (lol) by showing the godfather to unlikely people such as my girlfriend and my 17 yr old brother who only watches gangster films to see the violent scenes. Both raved about it for ages The way you describe the godfather as slow and something perhaps alot of people pretend to like because they think they should IMO applies more to films like Once Upon a Time in America. That really is alot different and lots of people pretend to like it.. it's good but nothing on the Godfather | ||
