i tweaked it on wed night doing good mornings did not think it was that bad thought i had just pulled it, got my misses to rub it out with stick and went for sauna/steam and it felt ok.

i was doing sumo yesterday and i was going for 290k and it tore, hurt like f**k at the time but had ice on it all last night and so on and it feels better today gonna keep ice on it and then see physio thurs to get some deep tissue and ultra sound.
i am hoping it just a tear and a couple of weeks rehab and rest should be enough.
its a shame cause training going well, but tbf it first thing i have done since i snapped knees off last april so cant complain too much.
i am thinking that it might be all the new movements i am doing with the west side template, box squats, sumo, goodmornings and so on. i dont think my muscles where used to it.

Lack of prehab work IMO. Please listen to my experience here and don't think some massage and ultrasound is going to fix this.

For me it's all about increasig flexibility and minimising injury risk.

My active recovery days involve

-x trainer
-complexes
-foam rolling

then every night I stretch and use my stick for myofacial release. In addition to this I'm going to start having biweekly ice baths for the lower back and lower back as well as getting to the sauna as much as possible and seeing my sports massage guy.

ken thats all very well but when you have a full time job and a wife you just dont have the spare time for all that, but i do stretch my hammies out all the time, i am talking once a week minimum
plus i have been using the stick and going to sauna more than before to account for higher workload but sometimes injuries just happen
they happen to poundstone, big Z, terry, you, me, smalls, it just happens

Not to let the hamstring get me down I went to the gym pissed off and ready to take it out on weights

Bench press with catapult
60k x 20/20/20
100k x 3
140k x 3
180k x 3
200k x 2
220k x 1
235k x 1 pb
240k x 1 pb was pleased as that was the goal

2 board bench paused
100k x 5
140k x 5
160k x 5
170k x 5 just and no more

Smith machine shoulder press
60k x 20
100k x 6
120k x 4
100k x 8
80k x 12

Finished with scull crushers

Overall happy to get to gym, head been down since monday so 240k really cheered me up I defo feel all the speed work had a big part to play in that, I tried 230k couple of months ago and not even close
Made sure my hamstring was not under any stress at all, hence the choice of shoulder and tricep assistance movements
Going to see physic today so hopefully it will be quick to mend

DE bench
I trained yesterday and due to my hamstring tear I trained a whole workout to upper back it went well and was productive but back on the westside today trying my best to train round injury

Speed bench with no2 bands
All sets with bands

60k x 12/12/12
90k x2
100k x2
120k x2/2/2
125k x2/2/2/2
130k x2/2/2


Incline log
60k x 10/10
90k x 10
120k x 15
130k x 12
140k x 10

Wow pretty strong at these today happy with that shoulder has been giving me problems for about 2 months but I think all the anti inflam I have been taking for hamstring must have cleared up shoulder !

Seated barbell press
50k x 10
80k x 10
100k x 10
110k x 6 (was more triceps than shoulders that was stuggling
80k x 9

Finished with machine dips full stack for two sets to failure

Overall not any massive numbers but really enjoying my sped work days, and I defo noticed the value of them last max effort session with catapult bench was so much faster working through the sets to 1rm

Hamstring is not too bad got physio again on tue, glad I caught it with ice right away as this has helped a lot, just have to be careful not to stets it too soon

Cheers Neil just worried I will try and train too heavy too soon on it, need to be smart but watching Ken besting out deadlifts is making me a little envious Unhappy

did a good upper back workout day before, pulldowns, rows and stuff, pretty good but missing my squats and deadlifts Angry Angry
i have saw physio again and hamstring is comming along great even started with light stretching so should be back with light weights after bsm

Andy what would you recommend for patella tendon trouble, i have been using a patella strap, squatting feels ok but siiting down afterwards or driving the car home sets the pain off any advice would be great.Cheers.
