can i just point out that incline log at strongman comps is a higher (shallower angle), i do it on a standard incline bench from my gym
that way i can clean the log without having it lifted to me but you cant realy get any legs into it
i have been doing this since the early days of my injury as a way to train pressing before i could do normal log press
this is a great movement for log press assistance as it tragets the lockout realy well

what you gain in agngle with more upper pec you lose in leg drive
its a good movment gets your triceps used to some big weights
give it a go you will defo see benifit from it

right guys not been on most of the week been busy teaching ken how to play pool!!!

update i done something to my lower quad on monday after awesome session on the sunday
i think it was my stretchies but i got out the car on monday after work and my right knee just flaired up fel realy realy weird
i did not feel like i had hurt the knee but it started to swell up and i thought i had snapped the metal work in the knee which i was told could happen at some point
i rested it on the tue, went in and did my pressing which was all seated but it was not getting much better, on wed so i went to see my physio
she told me that i had torn the quad a little being quite agressive with my stretching and i was to rest it
i took the day off from my physio session and my lower limbs group on thursday
i trained upper back on the wed night making sure i was not putting any stress on it, did lying rows pull downs dumbell rows and so on and it was quite good
i avoided deadlifts which was hard as i was right in the mood but last thing i wanted to do was to make a muscle tear into something worse
so i took thurs and friday off gym rested up well and my weekend was excelent
and this is how it went

s**t news about the gammy leg Andy,

It's going to be tough, but rest it up and make sure you don't make it any worse!

Upper body monster for a few weeks I think.

30/10/10

was the last training session before some of my mates went down to bath for the WPF world's so i wanted to train with them and get a shot of the bench shirt
as my own comp is only 5 weeks away

bench press
60k x 10
100k x 10
120k x 6
140k x 4
170k x 1
170k x 1
feeling nice and warm shirt on from here
210k x 1 about 3 inch from touch shirt not quite on right
230k x 1 about 1 inch from touch but fast
240k x 1 pretty much touching fast a matched pb
250k x 1 touched and paused fast PB
was told to get 270k on the bar as it was fast
i left it there but i felt i had some more in the tank
was very pleased with benching, ken did a great job getting my shirt on right and everyone had a great session as we where all bouncing off each other
the british and euro record in my class is 272.5 i think, and my goal is to break than in the near future

Well done mate, you've got a good raw bench and strong overhead=good triceps. Just keep hammering the triceps and you'll nail it.

was feeling great after my bench PB from yesterday

Log press
wanted to spend some time with ken as he has been on his lonesome last couple of sundays
triceps where a bit sore from bench but was not planning to go heavy

viper log press
60k x 6
60k x 6
90k x 3
110k x 3 PB i think
100k x 3
was pretty nice going, always have a bit of fear in my heart when i log press, should get some massive numbers up when i start getting some leg drive into it along with my ever improving pressing power, but thats a while away yet

15inch deadlifts
the quad felt ok was well rested over last 6 days so had a go at some deads
60k x 6
100k x 3
140k x 3
180k x 3
220k x 3
250k x 1
then assending set 250k x 1 270k x 1 290k x 1 310k x f
was pulling way too slow and precise to monitor the quad and lacked and explosing power
290k x 2 these where better

safty bar squats
this was a big checkpoint in my recovery, for the first time since injury i attempted a full squat to full depth without the safty of a box
and i was shtting it but since i had been brave with log i though f**k it

60k x 3 felt good was ass to the grass and tendons had nothing to say for themselves !!!
60k x 3
90k x 3 felt awesome legs where coming down symetrical and felt no imbalence for the first time
90k x 3
90k x 3
90k x 3
90k x 10 wooho loving it i was squatting again my one true love had returned to me !!!! ha so f**king happy i could have wet myself all good slow quality reps and it felt great

leg press
100k x 50 x 50 x 50
these where partial reps to burn out teardrop of quad and work on stability all reps done with 3 second decline and explosive positive movement

what a weekend a easy 250k bench and i was brave enough to do log press and full squats
so so happy
i have had in my head the british record for bench being a realistic goal, but after sat i think it was the first time i truly believe in myself that i can hit a 600lb bench
and after my squats i am one step closer to building my squat power back up to where it was i know thats a while off but after actually performing the movment i feel that bit better

feeling great quad was fine i rested it well i am making great gains and i am sitting at 142kg possibly the heaviest i have ever been and i am lean
cant wait to record breakers in the 5th and hopefully finish the worst year of my life on a high
