Dude, that's just what strongman costs in the US. Back when I was trying to win a pro card I was paying $100 per contest and didn't win it till my 5th try. I was a poor young Airman too so it was damn hard to scrape that cash together. Most amateur contests cost $50 though too, so it's not exactly cheap.
Terry i think you should run one of these. Like you said, it doesn't need huge prize money, but if you sell it to a Crossfit gym, there may be a little money kicked in due to their personal sponsors.

Ill have a little look into it. Somewhere outside in the summer maybe Happy

Agreed. But lets not be naive here. Just 'cause you can run 40m with a 320 yoke, then do some double under, snatches and cleans etc, doesn't mean you're "healthy"
Also, if attracts the same kind of prize money as crossfit, you'll find that a lot more people go down the "supplement" route (which isn't to say all the best crossfitters in the world aren't supplementing now...and that in itself is unhealthy)

I agree with you, some of the top Crossfitters must be on stuff. They get tested at the games but everyone knows that doesn't mean they are clean year round.

However, being sub 100 - 120kg, strong and superfit (which I'm guessing you will have to be to do well in comps like this, I could be wrong though...) has got to be far healthier than being 140+ no matter how much 'stuff you take?

The yoke on the way back felt harder than 500kg normally does

I really did. I like to push myself sometimes. If anything I should have tried harder. Fun session though for sure

I find the same. You do something as quick as you think you can and feel horrible, stand up and think, damn I could of gone faster! Great work

I'm gonna have to be 'that guy' and just say, box jumps, I'm all for them but when you jump back down you land quite firmly, much more than when landing on the box. Can you step down or exaggerate the landing so it's less jolty on the knees?

Does that make sense? I've just woken up

That looked "sort of fun"! Hate to break it to you though Terry but not a single box jump counts as you have to fully stand - so you are going to have to do it again.Grin

I will have another go at some point. I enjoyed it. Tbh after yesterday I'm more convinced I'm doing the right thing with regards my weight and extra fitness work
