he's got betty davis eyes Member 1684, 6001 posts SQ 250, BP 186, DL 291727.0 kgs @ 118kgs UnEq | I just needed somewhere to vent my frustration at todays announcements. I dont really like anyone in the coallition (or their opposition for that matter) but I have tried to give them a chance, to accept their policies and their retoric about reducing the defecit. I know the moron Blair oversaw OTT spending etc andsomething needs done, but today is taking the absolute piss. How can they say they want to see people back in work, they want to make work pay etc then do the following 5.2% increase in benefits for those who DONT work BUT no increase in most working tax benefits for those who DO, it makes not working at all EVEN MORE appealing, and disincentivises low paid work even further. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE Then they anounce a cap of 1% pay rises for 2 year on 6 million WORKERS, this is effectively a real terms 4% CUT for people who have seen their pay frozen for 2 years already. How does any of this incentivise work, can someone make it lear to me, because I just cant comprehend it.

I do think tax cuts would stimulate business growth through spending, but the governmebt debt run up by labour is too high for this to work right now imo, sadly. Something definately needs done globaly about the banking industry in general. And I agree for sure on the pensions thing

I am glad you agree, as I think in this case it must be very hard to argue any other way. I would actually like someone who agrees with the policy to explain to me how it is anything but an utterly disgusting pile of bo***cks

a cynical old scrote Member 68, 6844 posts SQ 255, BP 132.5, DL 250637.5 kgs @ 110kgs UnEq | As a public sector worker I am looking forward to another two years of real term pay cuts, increased pension contributions, and an extension to my working life of at least a couple of years, whilst all the time striving to improve the IT systems that pay our nations great unwashed. I will take solace that while I am, year on year, worse off that their income will keep up with inflation, after all it is only fair!!

Its yet another case of f**k over the average working guy. On the plus side, maybe my anger at all this is why training went better than expected tonight. Though trade off though

Edit , I'm not saying your jobs are s**t , I'm just going off the picture your painting I dont have a s**t job, it's a fairly decent job and one that benefits the country etc, a lot of the government spending review savings are linked directly to the work I am involved in. I suppose I could look elsewhere, but why should I? In a time of supposed austerity it appears that the average Joe is bearing the brunt, and those that contribute least to our society are being protected? All I am asking is that I dont take a paycut year on year for what will be four consecutive years, for the work I do.
