4hrs later gym full of roid heads (looks like a night out in rotherham so ear phones in!)
Incline press

Then chest fly on a machine for 4 sets of 6 and 1 set of 3

Hammer curls
17.5x6

Barbell shrugs

Standing cable crunch
3 sets of 10

Really wanted to pick it up and train properly, but gotta hold back for sunday,

did 6 sets starting at 10 working down weights to 3 reps



Rack pull

The put straps on just to save grip for weekend as i only wanted to put some bllod into uper and lower back

Then finished off with some seated vertical rows and lat pulls



Top of back inbetween shoulder blades seems to tighten up really bad once ive put anything heavy down, think im gonna get wife to walk on it to try ease it out, any one else get or had that problem??

A few vids from saturdays session at junction gym, all PBS and the normal fail to finish the day

Last thing of the day, need to work on getting lower i think, 250kg


260kg PB


265 fail, again think its down to technique been wrong

Great Axle work mate , is it worth learning to pull the first pull a couple of inches higher or better still straight to the sternum as some comps dont allow resting on the bench ? Keep it up man your deadlifting is looking good too mate Cool

I do aim to pull as high as i can, i never aim for belt, none of the 100kg reps touched belt, first hit chest then went lower inch by inch rep by repHappy

Uk Strongman North Novice

My second comp and was feeling nervous, training had gone well so all i needed to do was put it into practice

7.5t truck pull was 2nd to go and never done anything like this apart from dragging moose around junction the week before, and was in 1st place upto the 10th guy, then finished in 4th!!! lost by .4 of a sec, that was it, i was up for the comp!!

2nd event atlas stones onto barrels for reps, eneded up with 7 reps, had a lot more in th tank, it was just after the 1st rep, all the mud and grass got stuck to tacky, so rendered it useless. came joint 5th was down to 9th overall

3rd event Axle deadlift (230+kg) was meant to be van deadlift but the grass was too soft, got daz rothwell to egg me on, and grinded out 5 reps! which was good enough for 2nd place, put me back in 5th overall, then the taste of competion really got me hungry for more!!

4th event was a 100kg digger bucket carry for distance, i went in this with full confidence, but my fitness was s**t and only did 1 and a quater think around 40mtrs, that placed me at 17th!!!! was not happy with that!

5th event Axle floor to overhead (100kg or so they said everyone said it was more around the 115-120 mark)
Was first out on this event, my name got called as i was just walking back from the carry,(knackered) but was full of confidence for this, done 7 easy reps in the gym. So got set up, bam it was heavy got 3! and shouldered the 4th, that was t the dummy was out was so pissed off with myself, but as i sat back and watched everyone else i was amazed it helded out, i finished 3rd!!

6th and final event Duck walk 15mtrs, tyre drag 15mtrs farmers 30mtrs
I came 7th on this one, dropped the duck walk to my suprise, and had to go back to the tyre cause id not ullrd it for enough, by this time i was blowing out of my arse! the farmers was the thickest ive seen, so i picked up and started going, my body had shut down at this point, at about 15mtrs i was ready to drop, but with the crowd shouting i thought if i drop these i'll not pick them back upm so dug deeo and went for it!

I finished up joint 5th overall, the carry let me down, and endurance, ao back to the drawing board to get the endurance up. But what a day, great set of lads, and a great comp!
