Strongman alongside BB shows/PL comps: do it. At least 2 of our contests here in France are like that this year, it brings spectators and even future participants.

Single federation: easier when you're starting pretty much from scratch (Switzerland, France) and there aren't a bunch of comps already running.

Axle gtoh: ... 105 to shoulders, s**tload of failed cleans, no juice whatsoever. Finaly 105x1 Hitler clean, but dropped the jerk behind me. Poothetic.

Farmer's walk: ... 125 x 3m. f**k it.

Stop it now, I'm blushing!

Marc, that's my local CrossFit gym. It has what I need and I can usually sneak in to do my own workouts. Only problem is the restaurant next door doesn't like the sound of bumper plats crashing to the ground, for some reason.

I had good tone on this one, with just a touch of throatiness. I hadn't done a belted scream in a while, so I was happy with that.

I think the thread showed that most will get at least one lift in, but that the opens may top out sooner, relatively speaking.

People have a full month to practice one of the most basic gym lifts. Should be fine.

With people complaining about 2/5 overhead events, maybe it's a good thing that one of them may be limited by something other than overhead strength?
» Anyone tried Deadlifting in Olympic Shoes? (Go to post)19-04-2013 @ 11:18
I've done it at times, if only because they were the only shoes I had brought at the gym on the day. It shifts you forward a bit and gets the quads involved more, if I'm not mistaken, but I can't say I've seen a huge difference. You get a higher heel, but a solid and stable surface to push on.

Some may say they're not ideal for deadlifting, but Oly lifters can still shift massive amounts of weight, so it's worth trying out if you're looking to change things.

What weaknesses are you trying to fix?

I'll be seeing those shorts Eek in La Ciotat in May. If you're healed up you're going to do well in the 105s.

Press should be the limiting factor, not the clean

I agree.

most guys can press more than they can full/powerclean IMO

This blows my mind. Does anyone know if this is also true for weightlifters? Can they usually jerk more out of the rack than they can clean?
» STRONGMEN, whats your max clean? (Go to post)18-04-2013 @ 15:45
Just caught on that this is about the natty qualifier.

I can DOH clean 100kg@95 with an axle, and I'm s**t alround. I find it difficult to believe that most people at the comp won't manage to powermong bodyweight on a regular bar. Confused

I also find it funny that people are moaning about the clean. Isn't that the easy part in a clean+press? Grin
