Credit cards, as in the ones you use and get nailed with the APR. Yes I understand payback options and how you can set up a cash ISA with good investment options to pay it back.

No you're mistaken. I'm not referring to debit cards, which are completely different. Debit cards take the money straight out of your account. Whilst ISA do offer tax relief and can be a good place to save, they are infant an inefficient place to put money which you intend to use to pay your monthly credit card bill as you only get one ISA allowance per year which would be quickly used up saving and paying off your card.
A normal credit card may well have a very high APR, (although there are some less expensive ones). However when you buy on a credit card you have up to 60days interest free on some cards as long as you then PAY THE WHOLE BILL.
Also most credit cards have other very valuable benefits. For example we ordered and paid for furniture recently (costing over £1500) from a company that went bust before our furniture came. With cash or cheque we would have lost all our money. However as we bought it on a credit card the credit card company gave us it all back!
