if you weight train heavily and look rubbish its your diet. I spent long enough competing in bodybuilding.

sort your diet out, tgrow in a few vanity accessory exercises and you'll end up leaner and wont need no cardio. I avoided cardio until I was 10-12% BF

I would go down the conditioning route rather than all out cardio Ste mate , throw in some high rep sets at the end of squat/dead/overheads and it will do you good both body and comp fitness wise , there was a good overhead one posted up a few months back where you do one c+j with 60k per minute , so 1 first minute 2 second minute and so on , I got to 8 minutes first attempt and thought I was gonna die lol , a lot harder than it sounds!

Point being there a lot more fun ways to get your fitness up if cardio bores you to tears ( as it does me ) just a matter of finding something you enjoy : )

Little carbs on non weight training days and more on days you train is the way to go. Do some cardio as well, it won't kill your strength if you eat well and sleep good

What others have said. Aesthetics is mostly down to diet, even more so for anyone who is active/trains.

You are what you eat. Some people can eat what they want and not get fat but most have to be careful. Heavy weight training also increases appetite rapidly so it's difficult to be lean unless your really careful with the diet.
