Having an issue with a neighbour who is basically blocking the access to my own driveway. Came back from the gym today to find they have parked 2 cars at the top of her driveway and as close as she can to my drive. (I will try post a picture later to explain better). Their driveway is massive, can fit 6 cars on their but she has chosen to park them right there, to make it as awkward for me to park my car.

Anyone else had anything similar, what did you do? I am sure I have right of access, so I can use her drive to access mine. I dunno why people have these kind of issues Confused

I might just park my car in front theirs, see what they do then Grin

have you tried chapping her door and politely explaining it to her?

Yep, another neighbour shares our drive and was blocked in. She politely asked them to move their car and they made a big issue of it. Now they have done this which is just taking the piss.

Jack the car up as much as possible then do your damnedest to flip it over onto its side Grin

Either that or lift one end of it & turn it so its facing completely the wrong direction; that'll get them thinking!

I may be wrong, but as I understand it, you can block someones drive as long as they don't have a vehicle on it, so you can be blocked off, but not blocked on!

i had issues like this and warned them but they were stupid so when i came back from work at 1am in the morning i did a bit of cosmetic reconstruction . Nobody parks there now .
If people are unreasonable ,deal with them unreasonably but multiply it sevenfold this makes people listen.

check the deeds, if you have a legal right then pow!

chatting to them has to be the first option, otherwise it will just escalate...I read some stupid story...very similar to this, shared drives etc - but about bins! haha one of them ended up with a 40k legal bill Grin

Just ask them why ? As Churchill said "jaw, jaw is better than war, war"

Sounds like a right c**t! That would annoy the hell out of me.

Atleast you have a driveway though, I return home everyday and have to park my car 2 streets away due to council workers using my street and surrounding ones as a car park.I live a 5 minute walk from the town centre where the council offices are. Really f**king irritates me!

If they blocking your drop curb it Is an offence and you can call the police and they Will have to move it they are blocking the highway.

I used to get this. I tried the whole talking thing and it didnt do s**t. He must have thought I was a pushover even though I was six stone heavier then him.
I saw him in the boozer the following Saturday, I'd had a few so I went up to him and said if he blatantly tried to take the piss out of me again I'd rip his head off. He tried playing dumb but i said you know what im talking about. Never been a problem since.

Some people are just arrogant assholes. Put her in her place, sharpish.

As above, you cannot block someone from joining the road (as long as you have a drop kerb). Nothing legally wrong with parking over an empty drive though.

Having said that, go and have a quiet word with them

I can definitely respect that Jay, that is the way I like to approach things too. Show eveyone a bit of respect, however if you show me you are not worthy of that respect, I will show you disrespect like you have never seen before!

Maybe I just have anger issues tho lol
