Member 1803, 320 posts SQ 175, BP 130, DL 200505.0 kgs @ 75kgs Eq | Update Won M1 u75kg Eg at WPC Worlds in Vegas. For those with 5 mins to spare - OK I will try to make this brief & to the point. First off this whole trip was a massive learning curve for everyone who went. Some chose to b**ch about it & some chose to leave their fcking ego's in their kit bag, adapt & get the fck on with it. We chose to fly out on Tuesday so that we would have not only time to settle (or so we thought) but also to help the benchers out on Wednesday. The trip was long but everything went smoothly and we arrived in the evening so after food we hit the sack.....only to wake up about 4 hours later lol. I was trying to make sure I made weight under 75kg on Thursday so stuck to Paleo style eating which was really easy to do at our hotel which had an awesome breakfast buffet & rest of my meals i just did either steak/eggs/fish plus salad & fruit. Got a good look at the venue & warmup area on Wednesday as we helped out Emma & Kyle. This was a massive eye opener & started a wee internal jitter as we watched both of them bomb with weights they had been smashing at the gym for weeks. FFS I didn't want to travel all that way to bomb out. I knew I could nail my openers....but then again so did these guys. Decided to see how I felt on the day. Weighed in 73.5kg & just used two days aquaban to rid water gained during flight. Ate in to comp day but probably not as much as i should have done. Sleep was max of 5 hours per night so also not the best but nothing could be done about this. Friday - Up early for breakfast & over to the venue. We were staying at the opposite end of the strip so had to use the monorail to get to and from the venue & it proved to be perfect. Arrived nice & early & found I was in 2nd flight. So plenty of time to wamr up.....and get fcking nervous. Sorted monolift & bench heights and put them in. Wished my biggest rival, Mandy Duvall luck & we said we would see each other on the other side. I had obviously been checking her out and she me so we knew what we were up against. I have seen Mandy squat 250kg at a SPF meet and there was no way I was matching that. My best hope was that the depth reffing was strict & this would mean she would have to lower her squat opener which she had but it was still well above mine. I would have to make it up on deadlift which I am stronger on than her.....but there is only 5kg PR difference between us on bench so it could get interesting. Squat warm ups felt HEAVY....seriously. I was also beginning to feel really intimidated as these women hoiked themselves into briefs, multi ply suits & piled on the plates in the warmup....with me in me wee Titan single ply & a pair of M&S boxers ffs. Opener was set at 160kg. Opener 160kg failed on double dipping. At this point panic set in & the possibility of bombing became more real. My hate of squatting increased lol 2nd 160kg - good lift......and bloody fast & deep....probably too fast and too deep but fck it I am in the game - Phew 3rd 170kg - Fail - went down ok and coming up tipped slightly back & spotters decided to hook and bring me up. Emma thought they came in too soon but i am happy that they called safety first & I thanked them afterwards for the spot. Mandy finished on 212.5kg giving her a 50+kg head start. No way I was going to make that up on bench as she was opening on 132.5kg and I decided that during bench warm up I was not feeling strong so I would change tactic to softly softly stay in the running and get a full meet score on the board. I dropped from 120kg to 110kg Me Opener - 110kg - goodlift Mandy - 132.5kg - fail Me - 115kg - goodlift Mandy - 142.5kg - fail FCK me....I now realise that if she bombs I have won. Horrible yet exciting feeling. I really don't want her to bomb but we have both been playing the game & she knew I was a much stronger deadlifter & on paper we are pretty even on bench so she must have calculated she had to put a bigger bench in to keep ahead. Me 120kg - goodlift I can't watch the screen or monitor...... Mandy - 142.5kg - fail I am gutted for her.....but pleased for me....very confusing feeling. Mandy comes and finds me and gives me a massive hug & congratulates me which is just awesome. Now I know all I have to do is get one deadlift in & game is over. I decided to drop right down to 160kg which I pull in the warm up with straps down....then have fun with Emma James out deadlifting each other which was great fun. Deads 160kg 170kg 185kg So that was it. I won my class but most impotantly I completed my first international meet & took so many learning points. Never will I underestimate time difference & travel even though I had factored it in it still fcked me up more than I expected. Don't lift with your ego....some went their with a big attitude and ego & thought themselves better than much more experienced lifters who advised them and they didn't get anything close to their expectations or braggings. The internet can really fck with you because you buy into the hype of your own ego & that of others & then when it all goes tits up they lay blame with everything & everyone other than their own cock up. MTFU!!!!! I met some great people who I will be firm friends with for a long long time.....I also met people who 5 mins of their egotistical bulls**t was enough to tell me I would never seek out their company again of my own free will. Anyone of is full of s**t has no place in my world. I certainly did not perform as I had expected but it became very apparent very quickly on the day & a change of plan then paid off with a bit of lady luck. I need to change the way I squat. I am too fast and too deep & raw. I need to learn to use the equipment better & to my advantage so that I can make a more confident & slightly heavier squat....then I want to be able to out deadlift every fcker. One thing I noticed is that big squats do not put in big deadlifts so I am going to keep them as my ace up my sleeve lol. The rest of the trip was awesome....I love Vegas & will definitely be going back.

Member 1803, 320 posts SQ 175, BP 130, DL 200505.0 kgs @ 75kgs Eq | I am waiting for the dates for next year & then I will take it from there. Since the return from Vegas I have trained twice...yes twice & since that been stricken with the dreaded lurgy. I will not train when I am ill, I am no martyr to the 'cause' & I just find it counterproductive to stress the body even more when it is trying it's uptmost to fight off a bugged attack! Normal transmission will resume as soon as possible.

Member 1803, 320 posts SQ 175, BP 130, DL 200505.0 kgs @ 75kgs Eq | Ok...today was my favourite...yes squats. Funnily I am much more confident squatting raw than I am equipped. Squats Bar x a few 60kg/80kg x 5 Knee wraps on...GPC legal raw 100kg/110kg/120kg/127.5/130 x 2 - finished on 120kg for 4 doubles last week to a box. No box this week....need to get the feel for the depth & every rep was in but I was feeling for it on a couple of first reps instead of sinking the f**ker. 130kg x 1 fully committed and low as a snakes bo***cks! Super Set V Squat & WIDE DEEP leg pree - in squat stance with knees pushed out and to my shoulders 100kg*10/8/8 - 135*10/10/10 Lying Ham Curl 60lb *7/6/6 drop 30lb*6 Single Leg Hypers into double 6/6/6 x 3 Single Reverse Hypers 10kg x 10/10/10 Very pleased. Every rep over 120kg was a raw PB and the babies flew up. Technically good & confident.
