Well time to start a journal I suppose! I am now one week into and completely new approach to training for me and I feel fcking battered. I am having a bash at a very beginners type of Westside typey stuff and Martin B has very kindly assisted me with putting together a routine to get me started. Hit seems it may be a bit hit and miss to begin with but these things usually are so no real panic there.

I will update as I go along but bit of background, started weight training about 4 years ago and got a little more serious 3 years ago. Competed as a BB earlier this year which was a massively personal aheivement for me BUT the thing I like best about it all is being strong and training with heavy weights....I just get a proper buzz. I also like being a muscular burd and the very thought of ever being a skinny fat waif terrifies me and makes me feel a tad sick. I am a chunky 75kg at the moment and am not built for speed!

We own a gym so that is where I train...er....that's about it for now!

Sounds good, look forward to reading!

Are you going to post the programme, or just log the sessions as you go?

I hope this doesn't sound sexist, but I do find it slightly depressing that even all of the ladies on here are stronger than me. Unhappy

That's what I thought! Eek

Don't really understand all of this new fangled strength related terminology much, but 'DE' is dynamic effort day? And there's a max effort day too?? If so, what are those shoulder presses going to be like?

The 60kg is not each shoulder....it's the total - 30ke aside on an iso press

From what I have researched on this type of stuff the pressing for shoulders is kept to the dymanic day and the more iso stuff is done on the max day for upper. So on last weeks max upper I did side laterals and some rear delts. I am no expert and as I have mentioned this really is a starter program but I can see how it will all come together when I get far enough into everything to start rotating the lifts which is realistically only a few weeks off.

I assumed it was a 60kg barbell press.
I've never used an iso press but 30kg each side is still pretty darn strong. I shall remain impressed!
