Rest up, get healed up and have a great comp at the qualifier in February. Happy

If i can ever get any information on the bloody Expo qualifier I would love to do it....just for the experience and we are there anyway so it would be daft not too. But I am having problems finding out about entry etc. I have tried to contact Mark wotsit but no joy!

Happy to report I have managed a wee bench session on Wednesday and squatted yesterday and although there is some tenderness around the rib it was no hinderence on the squat and only slight on the bench. I will lift shirtless for my 1st comp thoug as I think the pressure may just pop the rib again and I don't want to risk that at all. Yes I may be at a disadvantage but it's my 1st comp and I am not about to break world records anyway, just a score on the board on all 3 lifts, injury free! Slowly worked up to 120kg yesterday and did three single then finished with a very comfortable set of three so I was happy to leave it there.

very wise

remember the deadlift is the last of the 3 and with bad ribs is a no go.

good luck for the comp

Yup I know! I will not be silly. I think taking time off right away with lots of ice etc was the wisest move. The dead is my favourite lift and my 'mental focus' picture is actually the locking out of the deadlift because then I know I will have achieved what I set out to do...and that is to compete. Don't get me wrong I am not a 'it's the trying that counts' kind of person, some day I want to be going out and kicking some serious lifting ass but reality is 1st comp will be overwhelming and new so the focus is to complete it....saying that I am not anxious or nervous at the thought and after standing on stage in my knickers in front of hundreds of people at the age of 40 and not feeling a right plonker I doubt much will phase me now lol.

Thanks for all the support and wise word chaps....tis all super smashing and appreciated x

Where and when is this comp Tatty ?

How did you injure a rib in a shirt ?

I am large and fat and my shirts are tight and small and they have been known to hurt, generally this takes the form of choking and/or the feeling of passing a warm hacksaw through the triceps. Either way it stops once it is off, no lasting damage is done. The shirt is a kindly thing, it's only wish is to support and to caress, never to hurt.

The GPC somewhere darrrrrn sarrrrrrf at the end of Feb!

It has now been mentioned several times that it is unheard of that shirts do such damage to ribs....but it did. By the way it feels I would say between 1st n 2nd BUT on further through I did break my collar bone a few years back in a state of total pissedness on this same side and this has without a doubt weakened the whole area on the left. As the shirt stretched (or not) and then compressed across the top of my chest I felt the 'pop', I did mention it and was promptly instructed to PRESS....which being the good girl that I am....I did. Rest of the session it just felt tender but over the next couple of days just got worse, particularly after squatting.

I believe you are playing at our house in a couple of weeks?

Sometimes a belt can hurt the ribs at the bottom rib if put on too high.
My Mrs broke her arms squating once and one of them has a pin in it ,which causes the shirt to hurt that arm with it being a little larger than the other arm.

Bit longer than that. Middle of March, Kitty invited me over for her sexual pleasure, oh sure she said it was for "squats" but I can read between the lines as well as the next man, sometimes even when there are no lines to read between.

John I am trying my best to avoid full breakages and pinning does not sound like fun!

Pete if there are no lines then made up lines to read between are the next best thingGrin

Well benched today and ventured again into the world of shirts but this one was bigger. I could see EXACTLY how the compression popped the rib. This shirt will be fine for my 1st comp outing and I popped 5kg on my PB today which now stands at 90kg. Popped up nice off the chest but wee sticking point as the tri's kick in but then lock out ok. More tri strength needed so rack press permanent fixture on the agenda.

Nothing major today - just some shoulders and bi stuff. Had to rejiggle training this week! All good though! I know I am supposed to have a master plan leading up a comp but the shirt incidence kind of threw that out somewhat so I am now just doing what I can and leaving it to 'what will be will be' at the meet. There will be people there that I think will advise me well if I need some guidence and if not then like most things I do...I will wing it!
