yeah i did have fun it was a great day, really enjoyed it

I thought you did really well Matt, some very good lifting and more to come by the looks of it.
Get some food down you too, just my opinion but I'd say at 77 kg you are an underweight 83 rather than an overweight 74.

I agree Les, I think I'm about 5ft 10, if I was to lift as a 74 I would have little muscle on me and it wouldn't be very productive. I will definitely get heavier over the next few months. Thanks for your comments and encouragement

lol Dan I don't really know what to say. The squats were all fairly easy, and there might have been more in there (Les reckoned I had a tiny bit more than 140 in me) but my squat seriously suffers with nerves so 140 was sensible I thought.

Bench was alright but alot more work is needed, I really want to hit 2 plates sooner rather than later

And deadlift was great. Only thing was I was supposed to open with 140 but lifted someone elses opener of 130 lol. I thought I was up and there was no one else around so I stepped out and just lifted it, nevermind. That made the jump from my 1st attempt to my 2nd (155kg) bigger but it didn't really matter. The 170 felt fine and as with the squat I may have had another 5kg in there, but I suppose that's the way it should be for a first meet, lots of white lights and just a learning curve like you said so I am happy. Oh but it may be to your disappointment that I pulled sumo haha. No one seems to like it! But it's not a very wide sumo if that's any consolation.

Don't really know what else to say for your entertainment lol, I saw some awesome lifts, some inspiring stuff. Oh and in the 5 minute breaks between flights I managed to sneak off to the bar and catch bits of the German GP lol.

Oh and there's a vid too:

eeeeewww.wwwwwwwww sumo! haha just kidding if it works for you then use it! its good to see big show stood in the background! lol yeah lots of white lights is the way to go for your first comp, much better than failing a lift at this stage, builds confidence. there was deffo more there on the deadlift. top work man!

Yeah honestly I can shift more weight like that than conventional. But Marc insists I need to get myself to horncastle to get it sorted out lol. Which I am hoping to do a few times over summer. Yeah I was watching that guy in the other room warming up with some decent weight like it was an empty bar :O

Hopefully I'll be doing the next one in november (?) in scunny and our paths will cross then Dan. When was the last time you competed?
Avatardan302
last time i competed in powerlifting was october 2009 i think! just did 2 power and one strongman comp. i may well do the scunny comp if im not working or can get the day off, im training tonight at about 9.45 if you can make it? im locking up for the night which is why im there so late, you are more than welcome to come train.......i will make you pull conventional though!

Nooooo this keeps happening lol, we seem to have opposite time windows. I'm training this afternoon and helping out a mate who wants to join a gym. I will catch you though, I want to check out this gym in scunny because it sounds good, and I'm often in scunny and it's only like a 20 minute drive. How well in advance do you know what days you'll be training?

That 170kg pull looked EASY! Get some weight on the bar lad.

not far then!

Not at all mate. I know it's a pain but any day this week you're gonna train, if you get chance drop in here n let me know and I'm sure one day I'll be able to make it. I get bored of training alone surrounded by guys curling in vests telling me to "lower the weight or you'll hurt yourself" lol
