Gone and easily forgotten....... Member 331, 22298 posts SQ 185, BP 100, DL 230515.0 kgs @ 85kgs UnEq | Ste was great today, Glen ran him close all day thanks to Marko & all the crew for putting it together, a good fun comp, I enjoyed it my writeup: Yesterday morning was 83.2. Followed Macca's plan, but the hot baths that evening were horrendous, so I went to bed at 82.5, hoping to lose a kg overnight from the superhydration/sweating. I lose a mighty 500grams. So into the hot baths again at 6:30am, got down to 80.7 and it was much more pleasant to do than the evening before. So off I go to OSG, sweating like a rapist, get there, strip down, 80.5. Outside with the binbag for what I thought was ages, back upstairs, 80.5. I probably spent about 2-3 minutes in total downstairs in the sun! So back downstairs, and timed myself, 10-15 mins of jogging, jumping jacks, stuff like that, upstairs, bang on 80kg. It was now 10:05ish. Started drinking, surprising how slowly things digested, so couldn't eat or drink a huge amount. Probably a litre and a half o water/gatorade, and a flapjack, and a small ham roll. Throughout the comp had no weakness/energy/dehydration issues, but before and after certainly. 220 frame - no drops, average/poor speed, pretty much sums up my moving events! speed to be worked on but apart from that decent first event. Max log - 70, 80, failed 90. |Belt buckles had to be at the back, I usually clean off of a small loop at the front so this ruined my logging a little. Having said that, 90 is my pb, that I did once last week in training indoors, outdoors is a bit different, so no real complaints, just have to improve overhead! It's coming though. Deadlift medley - My best event today probably, nailed 4 implements as fast as I could, car deadlift ruined me though, pec cramp after the attempts and minor back cramp (I get that on all grinder rounded back attempts), but all in all too heavy for me. 220 yoke - decent time for me, but a minor drop on the way there lost me a second or so, which would have made me happier. Always struggle with yoke after deadlift! 50k db - here we went downhill. 2 reps, one more than training but I have never attempted more so nothing to shout about anyway. very close to last place on this one to put it in perspective! stones - had in mind to go for the 135, tacky halted play on even lapping that, so 110 it was. Rushed the first 2 attempts, got it to the lip and just let go, 3rd attempt too knackered. The db and stones were major disappointments, BUT this is maybe the 2nd or 3rd comp I have said that about these events, and the moving events being slow. So these things will be priorities in my events training. Mike Howarth got some vids of me except my STELLAR DEADLIFTING! Nevermind, I'm sure I should replicate it in the future Next stop, dragons 3 and build up some BEEF!

Big massive thanks to our amazingly fantastic sponsors - www.super-strength.co.uk Beyond Failure www.atlasstones.co.uk P.E Sports Trophies www.urproteinsupplements.co.uk The athletes that competed today gave a great show . Battled their arses off for start to finish ! Mike Neales Log was "Very Strong" he must of been good for 125kg but didn't need it . Baker was just so quick on Yoke Farmers .. Glen was Crazy Strong on the Stone and Dumbell .. Congratulations to Ste Baker on his winning performance .. Ste, Glen and Mike had a close battle all day in the blistering Teneriffe climate .. I really like both Glen Kerr and Mike Neale but I was happy to see Ste Baker win with all the s**t he's had to deal with and with an MRI scan scheduled for this month also , hopefully he can put his health problems behind him .. Thanks to all my helpers today, it just made the comp run so smooth - Great Job guys . Ben France the MC king, Cheers mate . Ok so the key question .. Is this going to become the first Englands Strongest Man under 80kg next year ??? I hope so .. We'll see .

vegetarian with a big deadlift - who would have thought... Member 340, 13300 posts SQ 315, BP 190, DL 350855.0 kgs @ 115kgs UnEq | MarkClegg said: Ok so the key question .. Is this going to become the first Englands Strongest Man under 80kg next year ??? I hope so .. We'll see . It certainly should... these guys deserve a platform to compete as much as anyone else. They should all be proud of their efforts today but my heartfelt congrats to my old training partner Ste Baker, we had some real close contests just a couple of years ago and only his unfortunate health issue halted his progress... he has battled through and it was great to see him really go for it today despite knowing he will have to pay for it for the net couple of weeks. Well done to Glen too, another stand-up guy and gent in the sport and pushed Ste to the absolute limit. Mike in third is one to watch, statically so strong - if he can bring up his moving events he will be a real contender at u90kg and u80kg in the future. Well done to Mark and the OSG crew, it was a pleasure to be involved again.

The stones took some serious prisoners though (probably melting the tacky). Mark should be posting the full scores up later, hopefully me and john were successful in our calculations. And most importantly, I got a tshirt (which mark said a few days ago I couldnt have Ill defo be up for helping out at U80s englands next year.
