Yea, thats totaly my fault. All she has to watch is my terible form for 6 months so it rubbed off.

Overhead press Day


Log lift + swing weight (14kg total) + 2.5kg + 0.5kg (collars):

10x3 @67kg

Conclusion:

Nice hard work but then nobody said it was easy B)

Will up the weight 2.5kg on friday.

Tuesday 9th January 2007:
Chest/Tricep Day


Barbell Bench press:

1 x 3 @ 75kg warmup
1 x 3 @ 85kg warmup
1 x 3 @ 105kg hard very hard
1 x 2 @ 105kg too much for first workout back, will work up to this
6 x 3 @ 95kg this is the working weight will increase 2.5kg next time

Was going to do close grips but as it was the first workout back decided to experment a bit,

Experment A:

Dumbell Skull crushers:

2 x 8 @ 15kg

Result:Tryed dumbell skull crushers felt unballanced and not my cup of tea

Experment B:

Barbell Skull crushers:

Tryed skull crushers with the fixed barbells in the girls section (nobody was looking)

1 x 10 @ 17.5kg warmup
3 x 9 @ 27.5kg nice
3 x 9 @ 20kg (27.5kg was getting to much this is hard exersise).

Result: Maby alternateing these with close grip bench would be good idea. The ego lifter in me is embarristed with the girly man weights but it definitly works the tricep realy well.

Experment C:

Dips:

3 x 5 @ bodyweight very very hard after the skull crushers.
1 x 3 @ bodyweight pain..

Result:Like this exersise, want to make it a staple part of the routine.

Experment D:

some more with the calbes and doing like a double bicep pose to strech out my arms with the cable machine and be a poser in the mirror

Result: HATE THIS STUPID EXERSISE - NEVER AGAIN.

Experment E:

Tricep pressdowns:

1 x 5 @ 40kg warmup
1 x 5 @ 60kg last warmup
1 x 5 @ 80kg

Result: I prefer close grip bench or the skull crushers to be fair, forgotten how lame these are in comparision.

Experment F:

Smith machine semi close bench press:

1 x 12 @ 17.5kg a side
1 x 10 @ 22.5kgs a side
1 x 5 @ 22.5kg a side

Result: I may use this to get extra reps on the bench at the end of the workout if im not happy with the regular bench preformance.

Conclusion:

Not bad for a first workout back in the gym after chrimbo, gym was deserted - wondering whats happening to the place. There were NO new starters it was me, training partner two women who are always there on the cardio machines talking and reading chat and old man with the 10kg arnold press.

Will get back to my pre GVT levels of strenght in the bench very soon, honestly i fell much better - everything feels easyer even after not benching for 3 weeks!
I like the dips, will do close grips next week instead of the skulls.. hummm or maby both.

I realy like them.

Dale helped me sort out my chest routine:

week1 - bench,skulls
week2 - Dips, skulls
week3 - incline bench,skulls
week4 - close grip,skulls

Basicly its just to help my overhead pressing so lots of tricep work.

Will have to find a ernie tailor pic for the motivation.Grin

Thursday 11th January 2007:

Leg Day:


Front squat:

(just practiceing this)

1 x 5 @ 65kg

didnt like the way the bar sat on my shoulders, I tryed doing them arms crossed but it kept roleing down to my arms.

Back squats:

Olympic,

1 x 3 @ 65kg RAW
1 x 3 @ 85kg RAW
2 x 3 @ 105kg RAW

Wide stance, Gimp suit, Belt, Wraps

1 x 3 @ 105kg - not much of a diffrence bit easyer out of the hole, knees rock solid.
2 x 3 @ 125kg - encredible diffrence, the suit gives masive support out of the hole and the wraps start to make the diffrence due to the knees being solid.

Conclusion:

Wanted to try out my gimp suit, enjoyed useing it. I can realy understand why people like them it just makes the lift so much easyer.

However I can see it would quickly become a crutch to my squatting. I need to keep squatting unequiped except for the heavyest sets.

This was just to get back into the swing of heavy lifting after my christmass break from the gym.

going to do 10x3 for squats.

Realy enjoy low rep work, 105kg went without a strugle, I will get 125kg sans-gimp suit next week.

I wish i could do front squats better the exersise was great, didnt feel any strain on my knees. I know i could have got 100kg if i could have kept the bar from rolling down my arms.

After this me and training partner didnt feel like pushing it to close to the wire as this was the first squat session in the gym of the year we didnt want to get injurted.

Did some hack squats, leg extentions, lunges nothing spactacular.

Looking forward to the next squatting session. I will get 125kg for reps olympic.

I will leave 145 in the DUST soon (6 weeks).

Friday/Saturday 12th January-13th January 2007:

Overhead press Day:


Log lift + swing weights on the tricep handles:

1 x 3 @ 50kg no chains, no swing warmup.
2 x 3 @ 69.5kg
1 x 2 @ 69.5kg
1 x 1 @ 69.5kg
2 x 2 @ 69.5kg
4 x 1 @ 69.5kg

Conclusion:

Fell asleep and didnt wake up till gone 11pm so workout went on untill early morning.

Wanted 10x3 @ 69.5kg but wasnt to be, will work untill i get it.

Included a warmup as its starting to get to a point where i need it.

I will get a good log lift by hook or by crook!

Been looking at the BPC and BPO websites ect...

There is a few comps in my local Bath, unfortunatly the qualifying total is huge.

I think the BPC comps look much more doable, if i can just add 70kg to my total then i should be ok.

I can use double ply stuff with teh BPC, what about denim?

I think its double ply , would have to check the denim - you dont have to qualify for the northern, but for me i think to qualify for the nationals would be 740 - lol.

Just wanted to keep an eye on it, had a problem with dizzyness a few months back so I figured it was probably down to high blood presure. However this dosent seem to tbe the case.

Plus with my curent diet I need to keep a eye on the old ticker to try and stop any potential problems early. Also I wanted a fair body of data before i started chemicaly assiting my training so i could properly monitor things.

Should be getting a blood suggar level machine soon. so should be intresting.

I wanted one of the airflow machines you see when they test athletes at UK sports but from what medisave sale they seem very very expensive peices of kit.

(you know the ones, its like a resperator over the mouth with a bunch of piples conected to a machine).

Also its releases the inner science nerd in me. Will be able to do a nice graph over the comming months.
