Your giving him the wrong advice, fantastic hes 150kg at what 50% bf? how is he ever going to be competitive in strongman like that? a glen ross but without the strenght?

I dont understand what was wrong with what i said? hes unable to clean and press his own bodyweight? surely thats should ring alarm bells maby along the lines of "Stay off the pies".

Carl i might sound like a broken record but you need to lose weight. the exra fat is doing nothing for you except reduceing the rom on your bench and squat.

Strongman's not static, you need to be able to hussle. sure early 80s strongman was full of blimps but its moved on since then.

How you all got so bent out of shape i dont get? You should be able to clean and press your own bodyweight or at least jerk it. If not then your too fat. its so simple a concept why cant you guys realise that?

Theres me thinking this place was half way decent but your just shielding his fat ass from the truth.

Well,

what can I say...

I look like I train with weights,

Tom - I cry nightly about that 200kg deadlift lol. but then I look at the mirror then i think "ah f**k i think i will take being big over having a 200kg+ deadlift.." Im sure the tarts say all the time "tom thats a super sexual drug free total.." hehe

That said I never ignored peoples advice about my deadlift, its just not so important (also FYI i have done 260kg on farmers deadlift).

I can lift my own bodyweight in all the key lifts... lol.

whatever carl, i just think its piss poor that a fella cant press his own bodyweight. time was that it was NORMAL for guys to be able to at least jerk there bodyweight... hell there were guys 60-70 years ago that were doin that WITH ONE HAND.

and FYI contential clean sub bodyweight is PISS POOR MAN.

Work on your weaknesses dont ingnore them. and damm why be so uptight when people TELL YOU THE FRICKING TRUTH.

hmmm overhead lifting let me see i did 96kg log lift (no leg drive) at a bodyweight of 80kg, did 90kg axle at 80kg...

that was a clean as well carl... so lets not get into a pissing contest.

It a sad reflection on modern day trainee that they cant cheat press there own bodyweight.

Guys 100 years ago could do it? i dont understand whats so hard?

deffo contential cleaning.

Carl i want to have your babies.

There - happy now.Wink

Dont be so thin skinned young man! I seem to have missed the bit where im suposed to hug your nuts when i post advice?

Im only trying to help you young fella. And if your not f**king push pressing bodyweight then somthings f**king wrong lol. Thats what im saying.
» Carls Powerlifting Journal (Go to post)12-08-2008 @ 20:49
Carl - you wont get strong in overhead lifting untill you stop relying on cheezy s**t like contental cleans.

Thats what you do when it gets seriousy heavy (at least bodyweight man!)

You might think its easyer but your breaking up the rythem of the lift by restinging it on the the gut.

your under tension way longer doing contential cleans than a regular clean - think about how much time it takes you to rest the bar on the gut, regrip then hang clean the bar.

Think about your eficency compared to your mass, your push pressing 100kg at the moment thats 2/3 of your total mass? if you could press bodyweight then thats a start man! get it togeather.

Nice board pressing by the way.

Im a bit irritated because the bt vision schedual said there was no weightlifting on multiscreen thismorning but then after the fact they amended the schedual to say it was on Angry

What frustrateing is that on networks like NBC they have archived every class and every group but you need to be in the USA to see it.

Im a bit confused if there was a brit in the group shouldnt they have at least shown the class? seems a bit crap when you have joke sports getting loads of coverage.

hmmmmmm why was there only one competitor from UK? I thought all the bwla money went into developing elite weightlifters? Where did all the money go then?

Ok in my spare time between the oil and small pants I became frustrated at my lack of overhead strenght. This cannot be!

I have some time untill i have to do the bodybuilding comps so I want to work on getting my strenght in the big lifts (overhead, squat, dead).

Im not so intrested in useing gimp suits ect as I would like to have a go at a novice strongman comp one day (i keep saying that lol - but its true).

So i figured it would be good to add a few new techniques to my tool box - plus i found through my bumbling practice I quite enjoyed them..

LEMMON FRESH

Yep - ordered my oly shoes, straps and the weightlifting enc & DVD.

I need to get a coach near bath/bristol (maby there is one in bath uni???)

I plan to do it for a few months before i go back to the small pants and oil but i figure the extra strength will help me alot.

Any help would be apreciated.

The basic outline to routine is this.

Every day i do

AM
kettle bell military press

PM
hang muscle snatch
overhead squat

on one day i will do 60% of my max for practice, the second day i will just work on speed so i use hardly any weight on the bar (10kg).

kettlebells are just the 32kg one for reps

I know its probably a s**t program but I read it was better to learn the snatch movement before clean and jerk.

the most i got in the muscle snatch was 60kg so far but i wanted to keep it explosive and not push it out.

I tend to learn stuff better when i keep repeating it over and over so I figured if it did it every day with light weights I would learn a whole lot faster than doing it once or twice a week in a more standard routine (im hopeing a few months to get a half way decent technique) then I can do a more normal routine.

hummm high and mighty is a good store but like others have said 78kg unless your 4ft 8ish shouldnt present a problem.

Its expensive though, that said all the suits fit well, for myself I had to get a suit for a funeral and after much swearing and curseing the state of shopping in bristol went to bath as I figured there was so many fat gay boys there so there should be many fat bloke shops.

M&S had a suit that was a 52" chest, now you goto high and mighty, same type of suit but the 48" fit the same as the 52" at the normal store.

That said it cost 149 for a jacket... a realy nice jacket though.

The clothes are just better designed - they understand the issues of the fat bas***d and tailor there clothes acordingly.

Carl, I thought you were trying to slim down but you gained 66lbs! WTF.

How do you find clothes to fit you in the land of the midget chav (bristol).

Jesus I hate to think of your BF%, you are a latter day Glen Ross!

Damm it man think of your heart how do you breath at that weight? I find it hard enough walking around and talking s**t at my weight lol!

That said your comming with me to nando's next time im in your neck of the woods, no longer will i be the freak sat in the corner stuffing myself haha you can deflect the scowling looks of the onlookers.
