I mean the insane fat gain, especially around the neck and head. The blood pressure problems. His inability to complete an elite strongman event. Yeah, he completed BSM, but let's be honest, that was a very lowly show compared to Arnold or WSM, and he's much heavier now. His tricep issues are not getting any better. His pressing exploits look great, but we have not seen a huge new Maximum from him in quite some time, and he failed the lift at the Arnold. I also think he's managed to achieve a level of Torso growth and limb shrinkage that we wouldn't expect to see unless a person was using massively excessive amounts of supplements.

What do you mean by limb shrinkage?

And what causes the dry lips? I get this badly when I get to 150kg (i'm 5'8''). At 140kg I am fine.

I don't know about Hall suffering 'dry lips', but dry mouth and lips is a symptom of diabetes.

Limb shrinkage is a process that seems to effect heavy steroid users over the 300lb range. It's often referred to as 'Palumboism', after the first person to be identified as suffering from a weird growth of the Torso thickness, and a shrinking in the thickness of the arms and legs. Greg Kovacs, Ronnie Coleman, Branch Warren recently(although at a smaller BW). Again, complete bro science, as who would be unethical enough to do studies of the effects of 10 grams plus of anabolics and Insulin etc per week on the human body, but a quick google shows it is rife among the massive gear monsters.

I believe what you are referring to might well be an optical illusion...

Google 'Palumboism'-it is not an optical illusion. It's a weird alien looking effect of massive drug abuse, combined with really heavy training for a decade plus.

I would think that if a person is training their arms then they wont shrink but if the torso keeps getting bigger then they would appear to be smaller. Surely there's no way Eddie Hall's arms are shrinking if he is gaining weight, at the very least they are plateauing whilst his torso is growing.

no, there's something that causes an atrophy of limbs and blown gut in long-term megadosing roiders.

no one is sure what it is as it's not really on the medical communities research radar but
talk is that it's something like Cushing's Syndrome, caused by massive systemic exposure to cortisol.
(I had this as a kid due to long term corticosteroid use to control a platelet disorder before having a splenectomy to cure it)
the logic is huge doses of gear cause massive amounts of cortisol to build up and overwhelm the system eventually.

Yep its all about that thing called talent or genetics, the accident of birth.and thats the hard fact.no matter what folks want to believe about gear intake,(and response an tolerance to that is a genetic thing too) the folks who have all those advantages will always be the best even if they are getting older.
look to Greg Knuckolds stuff for a bit of realism

I think someone flipped a switch when I turned 40, reducing my ability to handle heavy training.

I "know" Dave, in the sense of having had some e-mail correspondence with him over the years, and am very familiar with the Term and how it is used.

I've never really bought that the "massive" guts sported over the past twenty-odd years is due primarily to any type of organ growth, but is rather down to the years of heavy eating and that the training required to get huge legs and hold 250lbs plus in contest condition is actually more than enough to cause a great deal of mid-section expansion in most people - not everyone is Brian f**king Buchanan.

I really Like Dave Palumbo and his RXmuscle stuff.

I don't see the big guts=equals organ growth thing either, and agree it's huge food consumption, combined with low fiber diets. Huge anabolic use does tend to lead to chronic inflammation of the gut area in my experience, but this is a temporary as opposed to permenent phenomenom.

Brian Buchanan, now there is a name that should be better known-absolute freak!

shame the NHS is reticent to provide TRT to men other than clinical hypogonadism. links between type-2, heart disease, osteoporosis, mental health and low test. would make sense to offer TRT as a rule not exception and of course, what 45-year old male doesn't want to have the horn levels of a teen at a porn conference? Grin

I'm already horny as a rhino ... last thing that I need at 46 is being more horny ... especially when the quality of birds at plus or minus 5 years is ropey as hell ... it's alright when pulling hot 25 year old birds is on the radar but not when quality is hard to find and you've a permanent boner ...
