I also deadlift more heavier and am far from tall - I suspect it's more noticeable in equipped powerlifting. Certainly at World Champs it is not at all uncommon for the 93kg lifters to be out deadlifting the SHWs - perhaps the short, fatties get a lot more out of squat suits and bench shirts so deadlift is not as critical?

id say being rather belly heavy and getting down to the bar is the main issue for an equipped lifter.
Usualy resulting in the larger lifter starting with a less desireable position

Squatting isn't doing my back any good.

I would say 300KG is still elite for natties.

In terms of guessing the numbers I reckon you would need to add any oly lifters that have cleaned close to 200 or above. -Tgink of oly lifters like Delroy McQueen to guage the carryover.

In terms of completely untrained people who have done this, there can't be more than a handful if even that. Maybe Mark Westerby the enourmous farmer who was doing well in British strongman a few years back?

A full raw power lifting 300kg deadlift is a very beautiful thing, as it anything beyond that.

I still respect a 300kg + strongman deadlift, be it with straps or hitched all the way to the star of Bethlehem, but just not as much as the above.

300kg is a serious amount to pull, be it natural like a big Z, or crammed full of gear and sweating insulina like Megatron.

I've deadlifted close to 260 and my best clean, a power clean at that, is sub 90. Extrapolating these ratios outside of my garage, a brit would have to be deadlifting 530+ to get a 200 clean.

I think Im at my strongest on deadlift (or have been) at around 105kg. when I get heavier my centre of gravity (enormous belly) pulls me forward and it ruins my line.

To add a flip side to this I've DL 265 and cleaned 190 (& this was after a considerable bit of improvement on my DL). I don't think there is much carry over from one to the other. You get better at what you do more of. Whilst there are McQueens, Grants and Cleggs they are the exception rather than the rule. I doubt many 200 clners could walk up and pull 300 without specifically training on it.

Agreed, although with specific training I suspect many might do considerably more -

Andy Kerr is another one to add to the list. First ever 200kg C&J followed by a 382.5kg deadlift.

I wonder how many people over 40 and 50 have pulled it. From the age of about 35 it became, what I thought would be a nice box to have ticked. Alas at 49 I think that boat may have already sailed. Annoyingly I was probably the closest last yr.

a 200kg clean is *way* more impressive than a 300kg DL - is there even double figures in UK capable of that - I can only think of mark clegg + delroy off top of my head (i'm no WL aficionado)

Capable of it possibly. Doing it at the moment possibly not.

I remember a squad at Bisham where every GB lifter from 82.5kg upwards C&J over 200kg. "The good old days"!

We've got a few guys cleaning 130kg in my gym. A visitor cleaned 150kg, very impressive to watch - 200kg would be mind blowing.

s**t, I only ever cleaned 140kg

200kg clean is much more impressive than 300kg pull.
