How many people can pull 300kg in the UK + another bullshit question.

A 190kg clean is more impressive than a 300kg deadlift. Klokov has "only" deadlifted 335kg apparently.

Powerlifting is not really about power, its more about torque (which is why I dont understand this obsession with speed pulls, speed bench etc). There are far more tractors than F1 cars out there

Do you think a 300 pull is more common than a 200 bench

I think a 300 pull is theoretically "easier" than a 200 bench (at least for most people). But there will be more 200 benchers out there because a lot more people put a lot more time and effort into benching.

interesting one... I dont know. I think 200kg bench used to be more common because more people would bench than deadlift but most of the lifters ive known over the years can bench 200 if they can deadlift 300.

I think anything above a 220 bench is pretty special

200kg clean is much more impressive than 300kg pull.

I'm not sure 200kg clean is actually any harder - 200kg is not really very heavy for a big guy, It is just very different. It can require years of training to master the technique to clean efficiently. We simply don't have the facilities, coach or people trying to ever have more than a handful of lifters cleaning 200kg in this country.

just had 5 minute look on neilside, mentally adding up individuals who have done the lifts (full power only)
trying not to count duplicates e.g. same person in different weight classes or comps.

bench press over 200kg: about 25 people
deadlift over 300kg: about 80 people

On average I would think a 300 deadlift would probably be easier for the lighter guys. For guys weighing 140 and over, perhaps there wouldn't be much difference.

200 bench with knee wraps on elbows and bounced with ass flying off the bench is very different to 200 bench in a meet.

Yeah a 200 bench in a meet is big.

Would a 300 squat be more impressive? Knee sleeves and to a good depth.

It may even be you that said it but i read on here theres a difference between being strong and doing a lift to the satisfaction of 3 judges.

I think that was indeed me. To me 300kg pull and 200kg bench are strong and decent achievements when done to the satisfaction of a judge. Straps, hitching, bouncing, arse up, elbow wraps on elbows etc make these numbers remarkably average, though.

FAT_SAM, do you consider me to be a weak man (in strength/gym circles)?

Stronger than average gym lifter. Not many guys who train can front squat 180.

I have to agree with this.
