Member 3491, 1197 posts SQ 247.5, BP 150, DL 280677.5 kgs @ 105kgs UnEq | After qualifying for the final my training had been going well minus a 3 week period with average work going on. Was hoping to put in a good performance and then enjoy the evening out in the delightful Bridgend. Weight leading upto comp was going down nicely and didnt predict too many issues. Went to the venue the night before and my scales were 1/2 a kilo lighter no issue though and was 107kg clothed. Got there the next day and was 105.1kg half an hour before weigh in. Attempted to not do anything however didnt work and was the same when i attempted to weigh in. A quick 2 minutes on the stepper which saw my heartrate rise to 189bpm and i was under weight Event 1 Max Deadlift, Would say that deadlifting isnt one of my strong points and the heaviest ive pulled in the last year is 250kg due to various injuries however have been working with Andy Hibbert with programming leading upto the comp. Starting weight was 260kg which i pulled easily and felt like I had another 10kg in me however due to the jumps the only weight i could attempt next was 280kg, had an attempt however wasnt to be. The jump proved too much for most of the lads so joint 4th with afew others in this event Event 2 110kg Axle FTOH My overhead is much better, had only hit 3 in training however was confident of 5 on the day. Watched Rich Maunders go out and hit 6 before me so had a target. 5 reps went up and was told I still had 25 seconds so smashed out another 2 in the time limit for a total of 7 reps. Was enough to get me 2nd place in this event Event 3 380kg Yoke 15m Now i wasnt looking forward to this event as locked my spine with 320kg about 7 weeks ago and minus pick ups hadnt moved a yoke. Set up and was away took afew drops however completed the distance in 29 seconds enough to get me 3rd place Event 4 160kg Shield Carry Couldnt get my arms around this and wasnt sure was going to be able to move it decided to get it into my elbow joint and just try and cradle it. Managed to complete 30m however was only good enough for 7th place Event 5 Medley - 78kg dumbell & 100kg sandbag 15m into sled drag Managed to complete this in 36 seconds however a slight misload on the dumbell meant me lossing a second puting it back in. 4th Place Event 6 Atlas stones to platform 125kg, 135kg, 145kg, 155lg, 160kg Going into this event there was 5.5 points separating 2nd and 6th place so all really tight and was coming down to the stones. I was in 3rd 1.5 points behind and a point ahead of 3rd. Watched 3rd place complete 2 stones and the best before me was 3 stones although wasnt sure on time. I wanted to complete the stones however knew a quick 3 may be enough to secure a podium. Went out and the first 3 went up quite quickly. Not sure on the time however coming off the 3rd stone my left quad cramped up when straight and i couldnt shift it. Found with a bent leg it wasnt cramping to attempted the 155 stone however couldnt get it high enough to load. When i came away from the stone however managed to fall over and due to cramp was unable to get up. Rolled away from the platform to watch the last lad out who managed to get 2 stones aswel. Turns out my 3 stones were quick enough to take the event win. Finished up in 2nd place overall and over the moon with the result. Partied afterwards rocking back to the hotel around half 4 followed by a 6 hour drive back yesterday. Would like to say a big thankyou to Simon Thomas and the BNSF bringing the natural competitions on and providing a great comp and look forward to next year | ||

Best performance of the year so far back at Bodypower u105's the other weekend finishin 7th happy with yoke and deadlifts afew mistakes with log and stone on positioning and keeping to together costs be afew points but was very tight towards the top. Just a log of last weeks sessions and this weeks sessions below of main lifts.
