Once they all start playing they will be doing it online from their own homes so you want them to have same platform as friends. My boy has an xbox as his friends in school have one.

A few of my mates invested in ps4 at great cost to find not many of their friends had them there weren't many games and you have to pay to go online. So ps3 or xbox 360 hope this helps.
