Good effort Ian, and fair play after doing 15 hours graft the day before, it's sure to take a lot out of you at your age Wink Grin

Seriously though I can understand how you feel but when you have had time to contemplate on the poor build up etc I think you'll realise there's more to come with a better build up next time.

All England Championships.

Squat.
Warmed up with
10 x 20
5 x 70
3 x 110
3 x 130
2 x 150
1 x 165
Platform
170 - Three whites.
182.5 - Two whites.
1 x 187.5 - Two whites.
I was originally hoping to go 175/182/190 but I felt very tired and warm ups did not feel good.

Bench.
Warmed up with
20 x 20
5 x 70
3 x 80
2 x 90
1 x 100 Paused.
1 x 110
Platform
1 x 110 Two whites
1 x 112.5 Three whites
1 x 115 Fail spotters took it before I had a chance to grind it out.
Dissapointed, the pause on the 110 felt long and I really struggled to press it out, the 112 was easy and again it felt like a very long pause on the 115 but it was still going up when the ref asked the spotters to take it!

Deadlift.
Warmed up with
5 x 70
3 x 110
2 x 130
1 x 150
1 x 170
1 x 190
Platform
1 x 200 Three whites
1 x 212.5 Three whites
No third attempt.
Totally knackered, everything went into the second pull and if the bar had been loaded to 70K for a 3rd attempt it would not have come up.

512.5 total, (came 2nd) my lowest for some years so very dissapointed, however off the back of just 10 days training and a 15 hour day on the Saturday I guess it should have been expected. All the Farm guys that put in a full weekend of 5 hours on Friday, 15 hours on Saturday and 10 hours on Sunday (Kev, Stewart & myself) suffered a little on the platform. Some of the others that just turned up to spot the lady squatters before sitting down to eat pasta for several hours before going home for an early night did fairly well!

Decisions - I weighed in at 110.0Kg on Sunday, the lightest of the 120Kg class however at 10kg below the limit i'm going to be fairly uncompetitive so do I put the best part of 2 stone on or drop a stone and lift in the 105's?

Next competition is planned to be the EM Unequipped at Letchworth in February, so 6 months of training and not having to do anything other than turn up to lift might produce better results, we'll see.Happy

Some good numbers chosen there, Ian - two whites means you got it all just right and the last deadlift sounded like a perfect max for the day. Was Red Light Pete one of the judges?

I'd say drop the 2 stone - wasn't that a long-term goal for you?

Red light Pete was on the desk collecting next lifts Funky and even he commented on the pause! I should not complain about referees, they are volunteers and we'd be lost without them and at least the pause was inconsitent with everyone!

Monday 19th August.

Fairly busy at the Farm considering! 10 lifters, however I was the only survivor from the weekend, not even forklift showed up. Weighed in at 111.70Kg.

Paused Half Squats to bench.
10 x 20 Full depth.
5 x 70
5 x 110
3 x 130
3 x 150
1 x 170
3 x 150
5 x 70 Full depth.

Bench.
20 x 20
10 x 60
7 x 80
3 x 5 x 90
2 x 5 x 80 Close Grip.
13 x 60 Close Grip.

Just an easy session.

Wednesday 21st August.

A lot of very tired people in the gym tonight, Forklift, Stewart, James & James, Big Dave, all getting re-aquainted with the bar after the weekend event.
Weighed in at 112.0Kg but that was after a McDonalds lunch!

Deficit deadlifts from a 75mm box.
2 x 5 x 70
5 x 110
3 x 130
3 x 140
3 x 150
3 x 3 x 160
3 x 150
Very hard work!

Bench.
20 x 20
10 x 60
5 x 80
5 x 95
5 x 95
4.5 x 95 Locked out the left but not the right arm!
4 x 95
4 x 95
2 x 5 x 85 Close Grip.
Lighter weights and more volume at present, the right elbow CTS is still an issue.

Rumour has it that Frank did a BFDFPFDFDF push & pull at the weekend rather than help out at the All England, a 240 deadlift i've seen him do before but a 132.5 bench is good. However, it's time to diet Frank...Wink
And learn to squat.Wink

Its always a worry when a man is measuring in mm, why not just say decifit deadlifts from a 3 inch box lol?

Bench still an issue then, why not rest it for a while work on your back, shoulders, and triceps, see what happens?

That's because it is 75mm (2.953 inches) and not 3.000 inches, I thought that somebody with your level of OCD would appreciate the accuracy. Besides, my Euro based fan club would not understand inches.

I'm also guessing your still filling in farmers tax returns in Guineas!

5 x 85
5 x 90
5 x 95
3 x 100 Should have been 5x.
4 x 90 Close Grip, wanted 5.
5 x 90 Close Grip.
All seemed very heavy.
Went to Snerpjo's glad to be alive party (long story).

Monday 26th.
Weighed in at 111.95Kg.
Deadlift.
2 x 5 x 70
5 x 110
3 x 150
3 x 170
2 x 180
1 x 180
1 x 180
2 x 180
Work sets should have been 3x3x180 but nothing happening! Gave up at this point and did some assistance stuff.
Bench.
20 x 20
10 x 60
5 x 80
5 x 95
3 x 102.5 Only managed 2.5 failed to lock out the right side of 3rd press.

4 x 90 Close Grip.

Big in parts of France, the gym where you go on holiday presumably.

Why don't you list the assistance stuff you did? Dumbbell bench and bent over rows wasn't it?

Like I said Mark, I'm big in parts of France!

The seriously boring parts of anyones logs (especially yours) are the pages and pages of assistance stuff, I am personally not interested in the fact you did 140 curls with an 8Kg dumbell or 10 sets of 8 preacher curls with a 20kg bar. Consequently I presume that nobody is really interested in the fact that I might have done the same! Eek Eek Eek I want to see what you benched, cleaned, squatted, jerked and deadlifted etc, proper lifts! Incidentally, you've been docked 50Kg in the lift of the month competition for trying to cheat.

Wednesday 28th.

Just 8 of us tonight, Danny & Son, Red Pete & apprentice, Forklift, Me, Big James and New Mark. Weighed in at 112.9Kg (large lunch).

Front Squats.
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 60
3 x 80
3 x 90
3 x 100
2 x 110
1 x 120
1 x 125
Cleans.
5 x 20
2 x 3 x 40
3 x 50
2 x 60
1 x 70
1 x 75
1 x 80
The fronties and cleans were alternated and were all done with an emphasis on keeping good form. Pleased to report no problems.

Bench.
20 x 20
10 x 60
5 x 80
5 x 100
4.5 x 100 Left arm locked out, right stalled about 3 inches from lock out.
5 x 100
5 x 100
4 x 100
4 x 90 Close Grip.
3 x 90 Close Grip.
The close grip stuff should have been 2x5 but all the pressing was done with a very short gap between sets.
