Not wading into the depth discussion as I wasn't there but why not video the lift from the side as then you can see what a ref should be looking at? Last week, Stewart's 210 or 215 looked SPF depth at best from the side but Ian/Kev spotting and trying to assess depth at the same time could not have seen what a side ref is seeing.

Pete's 130 on Monday however was spot on assuming wrapped squats are included.

Lift of the month is always unequipped Frank.
You're such a nice bloke young Mark its so difficult to be harsh.
But, apparently new old Bob who was not spotting but watching said HIGH.
I've yet to get James opinion but at the moment the score is 0-2.
That said I could let it go yet!
Perhaps you could repeat it for the camera tommorow!

James said it was fine, that Bob guy did say high, your right, but he wasn't no where near me whilst I was squatting, it was a guess at best I think because of the angle he was looking from.

In all honesty I have no idea if it was in, like Stewart tells me its difficult to gauge with the wide stance as you don't have one clear line between knee to hip, it gets a little distorted as obviously your quad is somewhat higher than the crease of your hip, so you can get drawn to that. That being said though, the only way you would give my squats without me being in a singlet would be for me to go well under, which isn't possible in that stance. I wont be trying in on Friday though, might set a new lift of the month though, overhead squat isn't it?

You will be disappointed in me Ian lol, just entered a strongman comp on 24th November, but I wont change my training, will just turn up see how it goes, out of 16 people I'm aiming top 5 Happy

Friday 1st November.

A busy night at the Farm, good to see so many lifters. Deadlifts with Red Light & MrB. Benching with everyone! Weighed in at 113.15Kg, but that was after a good lunch!

Deads.
2 x 5 x 70
5 x 100
5 x 120
5 x 140
3 x 160
2 x 180
1 x 200
1 x 210
1 x 217.5
5 x 160
Pleased with this session, a couple of weeks (Oct 2nd) back 217 would not budge.

Bench.
20 x 20
8 x 60
5 x 80
3 x 100
2 x 110
1 x 115
1 x 120
3 x 110
5 x 100
5 x 90 Close Grip
Content with this!

Overhead squats.
3 x 8
1 x 20
1 x 25
1 x 31
1 x 40
I hate these, my best ever is 45Kg so to hit a comfortable 40 tonight was good, i'd like 47.5 by the end of the month.

Monday 4th November.

Another busy night at the Farm, squatting with Horny, benching with lots.
Weighed in at 113.20Kg.

Squats to the "just under" box.
The "just under" box is part of a railway sleeper laid on it's side! If i sit back on the box i'm well under, if I squat down until my ar*e touches it I'm about 5-10mm under.
10 x 20
5 x 70
4 x 110
3 x 130
3 x 150
1 x 165
1 x 175
1 x 185
1 x 192.5
3 x 160
What I like about this exercise is that the depth is constant and deep and that you have to sit back into the squat to touch the box, if you start to search for it by leaning forward you'll f*ck-up.
Happy with tonights efforts, the 192 was enough but there may have just been a few more kilos there!

Overhead Squats.
2 x 20
1 x 31`
1 x 41
1 x 46 PB!
1 x 53.5 Fail, i'm blaming Horny fior this.

Bench.
20 x 20
8 x 60
5 x 80
3 x 100
2 x 110
1 x 117.5
1 x 122.5
2 x 112.5
5 x 100
Good session.

Good effort on those squats Ian, 192.5 to that sleeper is impressive stuff.

I did hear about your overhead squatting though lol, unless you learn to jerk it overhead, you have no chance getting it overhead that wide. Plus if you move your hands out when its overhead you will wreck your shoulders. But fair play in search of that PB Happy

The Overhead Squat is killing most of us powerlifters, Forklift managed 20Kg but failed 30 miserably, Stewart could only manage the bar as did Sharn & Shaun.

I only attempted the 53 at the end of the session after Horny had done several high squats (he managed to get his backside down at about the 5th attempt).

It's a b**ch of a lift to finish the year with,Unhappy

Indeed, its a very humbling lift though, as you need balance, posture, core/shoulder strength. Ironically being a squat the only thing barely tested is your legs.

As Ian was absent from the farm< I'm going to deputise for him and provide one of his funny updates. Grin

Was a good day at the farm yesterday. Busybee Ian was absent. Big Dave had a lot of fun getting into a tight shirt. Both James were present though hornet James has been overworking his triceps, Crossfit Frank who couldn't keep his butt on the bench while benching, old Stewart, the Rowlands, Gordon Bench, Forklift Kev and the two new crossfiter chaps.

You going to be missing training because of work for the foreseeable future then Ian, or is this a seasonal thing/political thing?

Monday 11th November.

Back at the Farm tonight, i've missed 4 of my last 7 sessions over the past few weeks so tonight was a gentle welcome back effort!
Weighed in at 112.45Kg.
Deadlifts with big horny James and benching with same, normal Mark and Forklift.

Deadlift.
2 x 5 x 70
5 x 100
5 x 120
5 x 140
3 x 160
3 x 3 x 180
5 x 160
That was (disapointingly) tougher than I was expecting.

Bench.
20 x 20
10 x 60
6 x 80
5 x 3 x 100
2 x 5 x 90 close Grip.
Does not look like much when written down.

So the IPF have given the green light to a Masters Classic event!
Whilst there is not much (any) chance of me making the GB team in the near future I do turn 60 in 2018. If any incentive was needed to carry on and up my game that's it, just so long as I live that long. Unhappy Unhappy

I think January will see the start of a new training log "Long Term Target 4 - "The End Game". Wink

The IPF 2018 World Masters Clasic as an M3!
Venue not yet known.
