Anyone.... I'm thinking of starting back up but I think 80kg is a bit small for open side flanker at adult level.

Used to, stopped due to snappin my ACL. Playing at club level wasnt worth the injuries, especially as a self employed scaffolder :-)

Played for 7 years at club level and breifly county standard but stopped because I was more bothered about lifting. I think strength is more relative than size, if your 80kg but push like someone that's 100kg I'm sure it doesn't matter Happy

Yeah, I am apprehensive about the fact that injuries may occur. Recently I have had to stop deadlifting due to heavy lifting construction work as I just wasn't getting the recovery although I shall resume deadlifting soon.

Used to play but as others have said not worth the injury risk for me. Still f**k about with a game of 7s now and then Happy

played a little bit at school and i play second row for works team now.

i do it more for having a laugh with the lads from work than anything else.

Am thinking of starting again, played union till I was 24 but going to give league ago can't wait to get boots on again

Played for 20 years then stopped , then five years later I thought I'd have one last game and snapped my Achilles' tendon. Still toy with the idea of having 1 last game but probably won't.

I played at a very decent level up until I was 21. Started again at 26 then smashed my shoulder up badly 3 years ago resulting in 2 months off work and a year of pain and off any form of training. After the year, 2 years ago now, I got into lifting. Keep flirting with the idea of playing again but I don't think it's worth the injury risk for my job and my training so I think my boots will remain hung up!!

Yeah I agree to a certain extend but it's a lot more effort if you have someone with 30-40kg more body weight bearing down on you even though you may be stronger.
Jabba
The 30-40 kgs you're giving away makes a difference in set pieces, mauls etc but it should also aid your mobility and stamina.

As an addition, we all know players who run and tackle either above or below what their weight would suggest, due to technique, timing and in some cases, the sheer love of smashing the opposition.

I'm sure that Neil Back weighed around 90kgs and he didn't do too badly Happy

Messed about with abit of league at school then played a season of union under 19's but stopped because I preferred lifting s**t up.
Avatarchaos
Played union from 11 to 26 then switched to league for 5 years then broke my arm. Start training weights more to get strenght back to play but ended up playing strongman instead!

Will prob go back and play for another year or 2 when i'm done playing in the desert.

Just started at 25. Managed to sprain my ankle in my first game, doh.

I can deal with some minor injuries but don't want to do anything too bad.
